Replace Bose HU, just went on 2k2 gle

My bose HU just went on my 2k2 GLE....Error F0...Really sucks, cuz now i have to OPEN it up to get my CDS out. Wierd thing is, all of my cds are actually copies of cds purchased from the store, not CDs burned on the computer.

My question is ( And Yes I Have Searched The Forum, Many Times @ That) Whats you guys' opinion on the best HU replacement that WILL work without any problems with the bose speakers, and also work with the vehicle steering wheel controls? Im not looking to spend over 600.

thanks in advance.

Any HU that has 2 sets of outputs >3v + Metra 70-7551 wiring harness will work.

Your sig is obnoxious.

Uh no, its a public forum. I'll say whatever I want.

That pic needs to be cropped. A lil better though.

ok so after re-reading everything in the audio forums, i came to a conclusion...I can basically get ANY aftermarket cd player i want and put it in my MAX, with factory bose speakers and amp, and still use my aftermarket subs in the trunk and amp as long as i get the PAC-ROEM piece right? This controls steering wheel controls as well tho right?

I don't think the ROEM has the steering wheel controls integrated... IIRC.

Ok so what do i need to purchase? The metra 70-7551 or the ROEM adapter? they both do the same job? or are there major differences between the two. Is this really all i need to combine an aftermarket HU with the factory bose speakers?

Crutchfield automatically wants to add the Scosche unit. So whats better?

Metra, Scosche or PAC? Any differences or just birds of a feather?

The Scosche is a dash kit, not the wiring harness. It's a pain to use. Metra kit is better. You ALSO need a wiring harness, the Metra 70-7551. If you want steering wheel controls to work you get a PAC SWI-(Brand of HU you get) also.

For example, the PAC steering wheel control that works with Pioneer is the PAC SWI-PS. For Eclipse it's the SWI-ECL.

Scosche makes a dash kit and a wiring harness:

I wanted to find out if there was any difference between the three companies that make Bose/New HU wiring. Thanks for the tip on the steering wheel controls. Got that ordered.

Ugh, forgot about that stupid wiring harness they make.

The dash kit sucks, and the wiring harness is more involved and more expensive than what you need.

What do you suggest for the harness?

Metra 70-7551. Takes your aftermarket HU and hooks it into the Bose system with ease.
