Adding subs: Please confirm all of this.

Ok guys,

I am replacing the stock HU with this:
Amazon Amazon

It has 3 4v RCA outputs.

I will be using the Metra 70-7551 harness to adapt the new HU. This requires 2 sets of RCA outputs. Will my sub preamps still be available after this harness if I just bypass the stock sub and amp?

Am I correct in thinking that I can just bypass (disable) the factory sub and amp, and set up a new sub and amp, and run it to the sub RCA output, and with the harness above keep the Bose speakers?

Basically, I want a new head unit, and a 12" sub and amp combo. Please confirm that I am thinking correctly before I pull the trigger here. Thanks!

dont buy that, buy the pioneer avh-p1400dvd (granted..if you buy the 1400dvd you'll have to use the metra 70-7550 with the scosche slc4 converter, but its only $25 on crutchfield), its ratings are a helluva lot better and i own one myself, i wouldnt trust JVC, you are right about the sub and amps, ive done everything you just said in the past month, i have dual 10" mtx magnum subs with the pioneer HU mentioned above, and still have my stock speakers (although switching to Polk DB651 speakers).

I appreciate the suggestion bro, but the fact that it uses MotionX for nav, and that I don't have to buy a 300 dollar add-on just for navigation is a HUGE selling point for me. I am not looking for the end all be all. I just want nav, touchscreen, and a bit larger screen, and subs the easier way.

Thanks for confirming the method though. How is the sound so far with your current setup?

sound is pretty damn good, granted i still have adjusting to do, but it sounds great as is right now..and regarding motionx, you can just connect your ipod or iphone using the $50 pioneer iu51v cable and have motionx that way, while still being able to have pandora or your ipod playing, itll send the map right to your screen as long as you bypass the parking brake wire (which youll need to do anyway for the jvc HU). im just trying to save you some possible pain in the future from the jvc..the pioneer is totally futureproof..can add bluetooth with one connection, built in gps, you can get an auto equalizer for $25 and most people say it tunes the audio near perfect. its your choice, i just did a lot of research before buying my p1400, and i love it. If you want sirius its compatible with all types of it.

Besides all that, if you need to know how to bypass the parking brake wire on whatever headunit you get, just search "bypassing parking sensor" on youtube, the relay to do it is just $6 at radioshack and part number is 275-001.

Hmm... I like the adding wallpaper feature. That's pretty cool!

Ok... So does it have built in GPS? If I use that cable for MotionX, will i still be able to control the GPS from the HU or will I have to control it from the phone? I think you have me convinced if the answers to those questions are positive...

controlling it im unsure of, but from what i read if you could control it on the jvc you should be able to control it on the p1400, but im unaware, it does not have built in gps but thats why you use motionx (besides its a lot cheaper than built in gps') but you CAN buy gps for $300 on ebay, maybe less..which would bring the overall price of the HU to the price that gps stereos usually are ($500+).

EDIT: You cannot control it from the pioneer headunit but you can't on the JVC headunit either.
