Dyno Challenge: Aackshun vs. ShocknAwe

No it's not as cool as the title states.

We're only dynoing intakes on The White Nightmare on a dynojet in the wonderful Houston summer.

I say my Bomz SRI is > Stock Air Box (or whatever ShocknAwe thinks is better).

The terms have been already discussed so they will no longer need discussing in this thread.

Only further discussion is needed on any more ideas of testing more than one intake on The White Nightmare and testing procedure.

Lol I think alot will avoid this thread especially if someone can provide an injen to be tested. I thinkin maybe $100 per hp on that set up. June 5th it will commence so in the mean time we can decide what kind of mods work and dont work on the stock and maybe even what length is best on the ram etc etc. Ideas are needed folks

So far we have a 6 dyno session 2 dynos a piece for....

Stock.

2.3~ ID intake

eBay Bomz 2.75 OD intake (what the red car dyno'd with)

The car:

96 Maxima SE 5MT

OBX headers, Stock Cat, Some crappy local made catback with small piping.

The same transmission (well not the same the same, but 5MT) and wheels (same tire size) that my red car dyno'd at 190/210.

ANother good idea for stock airboxers is to put some reflective material on it. Anything to repell the heat would be a good thing. THe numbers are going to be close but I think the Bomz will eek out a hp or 2 more. $40 to get actual numbers on both are worth it to me either way

If I made 50whp more this year than I did last year (nevermind the differences in dynos and random broken ish), I didn't waste anything.

Carry on...

No, nothing to brag about at all, but it should be more than enough reason for you to keep the disses to yourself.

You don't have your 5.5 anymore, stop riding on the coattails of what you had and wake up and come into the real world.

Track times will say the rest.

Cost vs. track times = waste.

Dyno Queens are cool to some people, but anyone who's actually into cars and wanting them to perform, dyno queens aren't cool.

Stock box, slightly modified, put down IIRC 249, with some holes in it on an NA 5.5 Gen (PAB). So, IDFK WTF that means though, being a different gen and all.

IMO, 5.5 Gen OEM Box > 4th gen OEM Box, and yet again, the 6th gen Box > 5.5 gen.

Either way.

I think I can get all of those.

But if you guys want to see those dyno'd you'd have to pay, I'm not paying more than $40 for this non sense, especially on the white car's stock motor.

Never said I was fast in general, just faster than you right now as of this moment.

I'll do 3" just for you. I still have the 3" maf made by Grey99max, just need all matching piping and we're good to go.

Where do I find the formula to calculate the proper intake length again?

The 3" will be straight ghetto for testing purposes only... so PVC piping will be used

I wish I had a PFTB to really take advantage of all of these intakes but ohwells, maybe the smaller diameter = greater velocity
