2002 Turbo Maxima 404WHP & 393FT-LBS

FINALLY ALL MY HARD WORK PAID OFF!!!

Custom Turbo setup using Cattman Headers and Y-pipe with 3" Cattman exhaust.

Precision 6266 Ceramic Dual Ball Bearing Turbo, Turbosmart Hypergate Wastegate, Turbosmart BOV. Tuned with Haltech 350z Platinum Pro with Dual Channel Wideband Controller. 8PSI

404whp & 393ft-lbs

RT Tuning hooked it up!! They were having a couple of problem on the dyno.

Problem 1: As you all know I have been having problems with these widebands since they were installed. On top of NOT being calibrated they were installed backwards. Someone installed Bank 1 Sensor in BANK 2 and vice versa.

Vince pointed out to me when you put the Haltech in O2 sensor control the 2 widebands go the opposite way...for example AFR on bank 1 starts to go to 19 then the AFR on bank 2 starts to go low like 12. When O2 correction was enabled this is what was happening. Vince, the tuner, thought this was because someone put the widebands in the wrong bank. So they swapped the widebands and that was IT!!! All this time the IDIOTS put my widebands in the wrong bank.....so what was happening was this: Bank 1 sensor would try to correct to 14.7AFR but it wasn't seeing it because it was actually correcting Bank 2 so it would continue trying to correct...and VICE VERSA. This is what caused AFRs on both banks to run away from eachother. Anyway simple fix with a swap of the widebands.

The second problem was spark plugs were installed and were not gapped for turbo so they were blowing out........was making 360whp on 6.5psi with spark plug blow out!!! Anyway they were removed and gapped properly.

After the problems were ironed out the car ran hard on dyno and tuning went very easy. The car runs SUPER SUPER hard!!! The thing sounds like a freakin transformer from HELL when the turbo is spooling!!! No way to explain it you just have to hear it....pulls hard ALL the way to redline. Had about 5 people from the Philly crew show up to support. We all went for a test drive and with 6 PEOPLE in the car thing pulled HARD AS HELL!!! I can actually really feather 2nd so it doesn't peel thanks to those fat 245 tires. 3rd and 4th gear are just WICKED!!Driving normally you can barely hear the exhaust note.....what a sleeper!!!

Vince did say torque is probably dropping off because of the 2.5" downpipe I used. He said its fine but if I wanted torque to remain more flat then a 3" downpipe would be good! But he said the car makes GREAT power. The shop that installed the turbo installed a manual boost controller and RT Tuning used that to turn up the boost 1 PSI so I could get to my 400whp number. Glad I bought that

I'll try to get some videos later. Its my 3rd wedding anniversary so I cant be messing around with the car all day....have to spend some time with the wifey!! So this post ws kind of written VERY fast so if it doesn't make sense thats why......

Nice, an electric cutout may solve your problem. Did the pipe go from 3 to 2.5 then back to 3?

Really nice numbers. Now start saving for some tires. I had RE-11 255/35/19 and could roast 1st, 2nd, and most of 3rd what a freekin blast. Had so many kills with that car.
Taking it to the track?

Again congrats.

Congrats!!!
Amazing what a quality turbo can do at such low boost.
Let me tell you 400+ hp is a whole lot of fun in our max, even with no traction.

What was your final AFR and timing?

Just a 3" downpipe in the future......

Yes, 3" coming off the turbo, then reduced down to 2.5" and connecting to 3" Cattman catback exhaust.

Yeah man car SMOKES!!! Its super fun!!! I might take it to the track, but not going to beat the crap out of it because its my daily and I put alot of work into the car. If I do go to the track I will just run street tires...no slicks....not trying to break axles....I could really care less how fast it does the 1/4 mile...ITS FAST....you know.

Actually I was messing around with the car pretty much all day from a dig......I can stick 2nd gear now in boost....LOW boost but I can get it to hook without ANY wheelspin...I cant go WOT in 2nd gear.....I have to barely rest my foot on the pedal and it will stick.....then once I get to 3rd I have so much momentum already I can WOT with no spin in 3rd.

AFR was anywhere from 11.5-11.8. I have to connect the PC up to the Haltech to get the timing. But the tuner did say he could have leaned t up more but he went conservative...which is fine I don't care. Thing makes GOBS of power and torque.

Acceptable AFR, it would be great if you could share the timing map/table when you have a chance. I am curious to see what timing your tuner went with. I am guessing he kept it at max 16-17degree's.

That power is crazy, the curve is just nuts. That setup is barely being pushed at all, turbo isn't even breaking a sweat @8psi.

Thanks I forgot..LOL

I don't know if I'd want to push that much on my daily driver. If it was just a weekend car I would turn the boost up. Actually it IS a VERY good tune. I have a manual boost controller in the car but Im not going to touch it.....

Yeah 12psi would probably would net me around 450-470ish......with 430-450ft-lbs torque.....

I video a 3rd gear pull last night but dont want to get banned so Im not going to post it.....BUT I do have a link to my youtube account below (HINT HINT)

i think you are good where u at now....anything higher and it would just be a dyno queen. the car wouldnt be able to put the power to the ground

Honestly alot of people dont like Federall SS 555s but those thing GRIP....I have no problem with traction at all. I can even boost in 2nd gear holding the throttle real light and still pulling and not loosing traction...when I slam 3rd it doesn't loose ANY traction.....fantastic tires!!! Makes it even more fun to drive!!!

I just felt sorry for that 2012 Mercedes AMG last night.......

well if I do it will be a 4gen on e85, stock motor, sheet metal intake, fender exit cutout and hopefully 500fwhp

again congraz enjoy the car, get a oil cooler .. and I wouldn't change anything less it's just to get a # on the dyno

I thought this was VERY interesting..

I took my fully bolted on and tuned ALL Motor Maxima tune and laid it on top of the Turbo tune......

Before (All motor): 275whp @6000rpm & 258ft-lbs @4700rpm

After (Turbo): 404whp @6200rpm & 393ft-lbs @4500rpm

DIFFERENCE: +129WHP & +138FT-LBS @8psi

As you can see there is no lag at all.

At 3000rpms Im making 148whp & 260ft-lbs vs. 127whp & 224ft-lbs.

At 3500rpms Im making 192whp & 288ft-lbs vs. 154whp & 231ft-lbs.

Basically increases through out the ENTIRE RPM BAND!! SWEET!!
