Marine TC-W3 two stroke oil as a gasoline additive - NEW

and with a 4 cylinder car, each cylinder is bigger. I imagine your wife's suby has a 2.4 opposed 4? That would be four 600cc cylinders. Compare that to the Vq30 with six 500cc cylinders. Each cylinder in a VQ35 (583cc per) is still smaller than the 4 bangers.

Ok today i finally added Castrol TC-W3 2 cycle outboard motor oil into my wife's Maxima, will go fishing tomorrow about 200 km's out of town so will test new additive and see if i notice any difference.I also added TC-W3 into my work van which is not fuel injected it's an old Chevy with a carburetor,i hope i didn't mess up and this works with carburetors as well.

I switched from Penzoil to Coastal recently and what I found that was interesting was on Coastal's label it reads, "Multi-use" and they show all kinds of gas powered equipment you can use this stuff in. That alone should tell non-believers that this stuff is safe for gas powered engines. It even had a scale on how many oz to add per gallons.
I still get crap from one of the G8 cornballs on the other forums but I know better.

just as a further assurance of how safe it is. I have used tcw-3 in my gas for over 4,000 miles, and it has had no ill effects on spark plugs/O2 sensors/ Cat converter. The Cat was checked yesterday, since I was doing some exhaust work on the car, and it was clean(with normal soot deposits for a 13 year old cat).

I'm 3 or 4 tanks in with tcw3 now. Only thing I really noticed is that I can smell it when a gob of it passes through the injectors and is burnt in the combustion chamber.
Or it could just be my oil burning that I smell.

I experienced the nasty smell, too. Now that I've been using it somewhat regularly, no more smell.

When you first start using TC-W3, most noticeable in the dino walmart version, TC-W3 cleans out a ton of carbon in your IM(thanks to the EGR)/combustion chamber/exhaust. Your tailpipe should look black, too. After a few runs, the smell should go away.

How long have you been using it? Define somewhat regularly, every other tank or thereabout? Im nearing the end of consecutive tank #4 with tcw3.

Been using it about 6 months give or take. Now I only put in TC-W3 when I completely fill the tank, which usually around every 3rd or 4th visit to the gas station.

Someone posted on a forum I frequent that adding TCw3 oil to your gas improved gas mileage, but couldn't explain how. So I started searching for answers because I'm not just going to dump something in my gas tank unless I know how it works. My search led me to a site that linked to a thread on here titled "Best Additive for Your Car? Pennzoil Marine 2 Stroke Oil". To my disappointment the link didn't work, so I did a search and discovered this thread, and that the old thread was deleted. I had an idea for you guys and did see anybody post it here, so I registered so I could.
If you would like to see the old thread here you go:
Best Additive for Your Car? Pennzoil Marine 2 Stroke Oil
I don't know if its all there but there are 18 pages of posts.
This will probably be my only post here, I wanted to read the original thread and found it so I figured I would at least share.

No, you mean 4 or 5 oz per FILLUP, right? It's ONE ounce per 4 or so gallons.

Depends on how much more. Anything more or less than the recommended ratio will negate the benefits. My best guess if you go WAY over, is the risk of fouling spark-plugs just like in a 2 stroke engine. If it's really smoking badly, there's the risk of fouling the catalytic converters. Which might cause permanent damage, as with any engine burning a lot of oil. If you did go way over, I suggest putting straight fuel in ASAP, for 2 full tanks & start from scratch with the correct ratio.

AND???
I just bought my 2nd gallon of the 'wally' brand. Started running it in the G35x since I got it. It used about 1/8" on the dipstick worth of oil during the 1st 1K miles & stopped at that point. I'm now about 1/2 way through my 1st oil change since owning the car & ZERO oil use. Could be the Nissan dealer used better oil or the TC-W3 did it's magic. I'm not sure, but the other benefits i.e. smoother/quieter running engine, slight gas mileage & low end power improvement are worth the $13/gal. <IMHO>

It honestly takes 3-4 tankfuls to feel the difference. But after 2 tanks the engine should start to run a tiny bit smoother/quieter. I've found by going w/ the 1oz./4gal. ratio tends to slightly speed up the process.

hemi has a similar idle - the LS and hemi are similar motors.
i THINK it is getting smoother but it hard to tell - gas stations are starting to get rid of the ****ty winter blend gas so that might be helping too

2oz for every 4-5 gallons of fuel. I one of those miniature jam jars, you know the ones you get at the hotel breakfast bars; anyhow's those hold 1 oz, so 2 of those. I've been using this for a month now, and WOW! It works just as everyone's said, my 3rd gen "BuTTa", runs as smooth as butter now , and so does my Jetta MK3 as well. I'm burning the generic Coastal brand.
