Polishing help needed
Is there a thread somewhere with a writeup on how to get some of this done?
I'm gonna do the intake to throttle body pipe, and then intake manifold its self once I pull it off tomorrow.
What grit should I start out with and then what grits afterward? And should I wetsand and then I've read that mother's metal polish is the best thing.
Any hints, tips, suggestions, or just general polishing facts would be helpful. Thanks

200 400 600 800 1000 1500 2000 and wet sand all of them...varying the grits no more than one grit level at a time to prevent recreating more scars...then use mothers in several coats and polish clean to look the best...good luck...I had great results with mine.
oh and I had great results with the dremel attachments for abrasive wheels ... the fuzzy kind in a two pack that made the original machined finish go away rather efficiently.

Yes, it was worth it for the valve cover and manifold.
For everything else, CHROME DIPPED baby

I'm planning getting my valve covers and CAI powdercoated black, replacing all the hoses with new ones. That way, my engine bay will be a nice and shiny black with some bling bling in the middle.

Just to give you an idea...It took me at least 15 hours of sanding to get it perfectly smooth and then polished (not 15 hours straight of course). Now it's like a mirror...
If you can afford it, send it out to be sanded down and chrome dipped or machine polished...or be a real man and do it yourself

It's not that bad to do once you get past the 100 grit (getting the original casting pit marks and roughness out is a bi_tch, I used a Dremel and about 20 sanding drum bits). It's also pretty rough on your back leaning over into the bay for hours on end.
