Aaah monte carlo, I had an '86 Monte Carlo (non-SS ) when I first started driving, then moved into a '97GTP which blew up on a dyno while still stock, which GM replaced with a '99
Had tons of reliability and performance issues so I moved into the Maxima a year / 40k later and as they say the rest is history....
Let say i have 4 cars and i have never had never had less than 3.......before 810 maxima i had a 4th gen max, red 240sx, a green 240sx....Its a bad habit to see a deal i must buy it and drive it then pick 1 to build......Grown man with adhd it sucks...
1998 Mercury Mystique V6 5-speed..Chip/exhaust /FSTB/GR-2-Eibach/bumpin' audio system. Loved that car! Before that, 1992 Dodge Colt hatchback -broken into...twice.
Currently driving an '02 5.5 6-speed. Coilovers/exhaust /audio..headers/custom exhaust/piggyback Greddy blue emanage system to be installed/tuned end of this month.

You all have cool rides, including Maximas. I'm currently driving a '14 Altima rental, awaiting for my '16 Maxima. I traded my '09 Camry. '99 Corolla before that. That's it.
My Maxima is the first car I've owned. Picture was taken the day after I bought it. One of the few Maxima's I've seen without a trunk spoiler so no +500 HP
Before that, I was whipping around with a permit in my dad's '04 Accord (and his '95 Corolla before that until he wrecked it) and my mom's '98 Sentra which I sold a month ago.
Car before the '95 Max was a '90 black on black 240sx 5spd that I had for 9 years. I loved, loved, loved that car & it loved me back. Til the engine got crushed in a head-on in '01. Got the Max because my teen was about to start driving. Never thought I'd have it for 13 years!

Now I have a 2008 Maxima sl and a 1992 Toyota Pickup before that 2006 Impala SS before that in order to earliest 2003 Maxima platinum SE, 2000 Maxima SE, 1998gmc Jimmy, 1997 Gmc jimmy, 1989 Thunderbird and a 1979 Bonneville, 1987 Monte Carlo, 1985 Monte Carlo, 1972 Impala and 1975 pinto was my 1 st car whew!
Good thread! Interesting to see what paths led us to a Maxima.
Me, my first car was a 1994 Honda Accord EX, then a 1997 Buick LeSabre Limited, while I had the Buick I then got a 1996 Chevrolet S10 LS (still have it), then a 2008 Chevrolet Malibu LTZ 3.6, and now finally my 2012 Nissan Maxima SV.
For me, my Maxxi has finally brought everything I loved individually about my past cars into one package - the luxury of my Buick, the quality of my Honda, and the sport of my late Malibu. Yes, sport - with the 3.6L V6, 18" wheels and touring tires, and a nimble European suspension it actually was a lot of fun to drive. The Max is more fun, though.
My first car was a 92 Honda Prelude, then a 1998 Maxima SE, then a 2003 Maxima SE, and then I traded it for a 14 Mustang GT.
I miss my 5.5gen Max, if I had space and time to take care of 2 cars, I would have kept it.
Those last two, that's crazily similar to me. I have an '03 Maxima SE, and I bought a '13 Mustang GT although I didn't trade the Maxima in. Those shysters would've screwed me over so bad and been like "ooh, it's the manual...yeah no one wants these" and then I'd be pissed.
My car history is pretty short:
1996 Buick Riviera Supercharged (drove for almost 7 years straight, barely any trouble out of it)
1999 Cadillac Deville (Got a great deal on it, was liking it and had only 100k on it, then started being terrified of Northstar problems and sold it for a profit. Looked like an old grandpa car, but that thing ran damn good and pulled hard and no one ever expected it )
2003 Maxima SE Titanium Ed. 6-speed (Bought this to replace the Riviera which was finally due for replacement after it wasn't going into overdrive anymore)
2013 Mustang GT (Theoretically bought to replace the Maxima, but now not so sure I can get myself to give it up, especially going from a 6-speed to an auto. Plus Maxima owners are cooler than Mustang owners )
My immediate previous car was a 2008 Mazda Speed3. Really, really fun little hot hatch, car, but after 7 years of ownership I decided I was ready for something that didn't have a notchy 6-speed manual and a bone-shaking suspension. The Maxima is like driving a cloud around in comparison.
The only other Nissan I've owned was a '97 Sentra that was my commuter and that I put something like 240k miles on. Was a little crapbox but I loved it anyway. My family has been into Nissans/Datsuns since forever, starting with my dad buying an '82 280ZX (complete with 80s-tastic red velour interior!) new off the lot. He currently drives an '06 Infiniti M45 that he adores and will likely never get rid of, and my brother-in-law rocks a new Q50S.
