Garage Door Opener Button

Garage Door Opener Button
The garage door opener button on the sun visor of my 2002 I35 requires that I get closer to the garage in order for it to work. In the past it worked great from 100 or more feet. Is there anything I can do to improve performance?

There isn't really much you can do for it. The Homelink opener is like a small, self contained unit similar to a keychain remote built into the sunvisor. The only difference between the 2 is that the one in the visor does not have a battery in it.
All you can do is get a voltmeter and measure that you have 12 (or more) volts across the 2 wires that bring power to it. If the voltage is OK, then your only option would be to replace it and that cannot be guaranteed to resolve the problem.
The only other thing that I can think of is that you are keeping something that is metal stored above the visor that a absorbing the radio waves from the opener.
I have that same problem on an intermittent basis. It will work fine and then not work so fine for a couple days. It could be some kind of radio interference, but without any very expensive test equipment that can monitor radio frequencies, there is no real way of knowing.
