Maxus09 Official Scenic Cruise Info

OK I'm coordinating the official Maxus09 Scenic Cruise and the planning committee has approved this route.

Date: Sunday June 28th 2009
Time: 8:30-9:00 am
(Drivers meet in parking lot of Holiday Inn for Scenic Cruise Brief)
Depart: 9 am sharp!
Address: Holiday Inn, 45 St Patricks Dr, Waldorf, MD 20603
First leg of the cruise: Waldorf Holiday Inn to Solomon's Island, Maryland

Driving directions to Solomons Island
Est Distance and Time: 39.2 mi – about 1 hour 4 mins

1. Head northwest on St Patricks Dr toward Western Pkwy 0.1 mi
2. Make a U-turn at Western Pkwy 0.3 mi
3. Turn left at US-301 0.6 mi
4. Turn right at Leonardtown Rd/MD-5 Bus Continue to follow Leonardtown Rd 12.6 mi
5. Continue on MD-5/Three Notch Rd Continue to follow Three Notch Rd 20.8 mi
6. Turn left at MD-4/Patuxent Beach Rd 3.9 mi
7. Turn right at Solomons Island Rd S 0.8 mi

Upon arrival at Solomons Island there is a FREE parking area near the waterfront (you cannot miss it!) if no travel issues we should arrive around 10:10 am. The Solomon's is not big so you are free to drive around the Island and tour or break off into groups and take pictures, we really want as many pictures as we can get of drivers, your Maxima's or just highlighting a fun day at Maxus09. Aaron wants to use the pictures of our cruise to use for the official Maxus09 website to publish for other Maxima enthusiast who could not come. Solomon's Island or within a 3 minute drive is very close to shops, restaurants, fast food, gas stations, and public rest rooms. Solomon's is also a summer tourist place so please obey all traffic laws posted because the area is well patrolled by the local and state police.

Second leg of the cruise: Solomon's Island to Gilbert Run Park

4. Turn right at MD-235/Three Notch Rd Continue to follow Three Notch Rd 18.4 mi
5. Turn left at MD-6/New Market Turner Rd Continue to follow MD-6 4.8 mi
6.Turn right Destination will be on the right 174 ft

Estimated arrival time to Gilbert Run Park: 12:15 pm

Satellite view of Gilbert Run Park where the Maxus09 BBQ and Awards ceremony will be held.
See the Maxus09 Official website for details! http://www.maxus09.com/

Some cruise rules and recommendations:

1. I need at least 2-3 other cruise leaders throughout the caravan who can take charge in case groups get separated as a result of traffic lights so everyone gets to the destinations and has a great experience.
2. I'll need one tail leader who can contact me via cell if any cars have problems.
3. Cars with Navigation systems should program the cruise addresses provided above or print out these instructions ahead of time.
4. No speeding, if you break from the pack (and you may for pictures, video, etc.) you are technically considered on your own until you rejoin the caravan.
5. The caravan will be driving with flashers ON to help each other know where a group is. If you break from a caravan, please turn your flashers off so drivers behind you don't accidentally follow you.
6. Please try and close all gap's from Maxima's who may have left the caravan.
7. Please open a gap to any Maxima's trying to reenter a caravan.
8. All traffic laws will be followed, if you get pulled over by the police see number 3 above because the caravan will not stop.
9. Be respectful and lets all work together to ensure a memorable Maxus09
10. Have fun and drive safe.
11. PM me if you have questions, suggestions, or recommendations.

Anyone coming on the scenic cruise please post your user name so I can compile a list. Also please indicate if you would like to be a caravan leader in case we have to slit the herd, the criteria for team leaders if familiarity with the route, area, and adhering to the rules so all caravans have a great experience!!!

Great fishing in our area, you just need to pick up a temporary out of state fishing license available at any Walmart, Kmart, or bait & tackle shop.

Max up bro, I'm getting up even earlier just to roll up there to lead the cruise. We have a lot of Max'es that don't want to roll out too late and with the BBQ and awards ceremony starting at about 1230-1ish, we have to roll by 9am. Hang tough bro, this will be a great cruise with lots of pictures, memories, friendships, and coffee!!!
