My 98 Max : JIC Coilovers+fender rolling+G35C rims...now boosted
Installed some JIC Coilovers about a month ago, and just finished rolling my fenders last Thursday. What's sad is that I've been storing these coilovers forever. Bought them from blackonblack from when he was a vendor here. Next up is installing my G35C rims with Volk lug nuts....then determining what spacers will be required for flushness...

The quality on these is pretty damn good. I'm impressed that they accounted for all OEM equipment/lines including ABS. 3 small slots/brackets total. Much better than the Progress Coilovers that I have on my other Max.
Ptatohed lending a helping hand and putting a block of wood under the rotor so we can jack up the control arm to meet the new suspension....

Fender Rolling equipment/pics. I bought this equipment directly from Eastwood. Overall good quality. My only gripe is that that one red **** is plastic..hope it doesn't break one day.
Rolling fenders is not as easy as I thought. I took quit a bit of going back and forth, and A LOT of heat to soften the metal.
Inner plastic before:
Inner plastic after:
I plan on going as low as possible and getting a nice flush look. I anticipate that I'll rub the inner plastics, so I cut them at the fenders. Still need to heat them up and warp them so they hug the chassis a little better. Fender is rolled in the following pic

Pictures of G35C rims coming soon....stay tuned.

I was like...why is the maxima silver? Then realized its your '98
Yeah fender rolling is an art, too much heat and the paint comes off easy. If you ever offer it as a service be wary of GM cars, the paint is super thin
Looking good so far, so how about the 99? Hows it doin? and what happened to the supra?

Thanks for the tip. I'll keep it in mind if and when I get to rolling the fenders on my 92 Camaro
99 Max and Supra are sleeping together in the garage.
When I bought my second Max, I made sure it was a California car and that it spent it's whole life in CA. Overall the Max is in good condition, except for the two small dents that need to be pulled/repaired in the front fender. Front and rear bumper covers need to be reshot as well. I'll take care of these blemishes if and when I get to installing my full Stillen kit.
Good to see that you're still around.

Looks great. I assumed you were going to put those JICs on your 99, as only the best goes on there
Actually, how does the 98 ride with the stiffer springs in the rear compared to your 99?

Nice james, you know where i stand with sterling mist 98's is it mt?
JIC's are great CO's, my BC Racing's also had brackets for the lines.
The fender roller can be rented then returned. It does suck that the roller is made out of plastic, i've seen it getting cut by the sharp fender lines on some cars, specially at the wrong angle and as a result failing to do its job.
Are your g35's the 19" rays? if so those will be pretty flush to begin with. considering the baller that you are, why not some nice aftermarkets instead?

looks eerily similar James! I dig it!
glad one of us got pics of the JIC install and fender rolling! if ida known you needed a roller you could have just paid shipping to use mine! ive got the same thing! and that handle is pretty sturdy, its done at least 4 cars and no issues so far!
for some reason i thought you were farther along on that one than it appears! oh, and when i saw the rears fully extended iw as like WTF! is he putten super swampers on this one! ive only got about a half inch left on the rears unless i wanna preload the springs for more lows.

Hope you had some Kleenex within reach...LOL
Yup, Sterling Mist FTW. Yeah, I knew about renting the tool, but it makes sense to purchase considering how many cars I have, and I will help Josh roll his fenders on his Max and S4.
Nah, just the more common 18" G35C rims. Believe me, I thought about getting some killer aftermarket rims, but figured it probably isn't the smartest move considering this is my DD. I also don't want to draw to much attention either, so I figured I'd go with clean and simple, yet a little sporty. I also think that your baller rims is what ultimately resulted in your Max getting stolen. Don't want that to happen again....
But I will say, with the aggresive/flush thread, you guys are making me think twice about these G35C rims with all the great wheel/stance combos in that thread. I'm tempted to get some nice Volks, Works, HRE's or the like. Damn you guys.... I waited patiently for 6+months to find G35C rims in excellent condition locally too...
Maybe you can borrow some Kleenex from phatboi...haha
Wanted a nice DD...I told myself I wasn't going to mod it at first.....then I started stockpiling parts...now I'm finally getting around to installing them.
LOL...Not soon, but hopefully one day in the future. Thanks for the vote of confidence though.
Soon, I promise. In the meantime, here's some final pics before the G35C rims go on..
Thanks dude, much appreciated.
No super swampers for me. LOL. I took that pic right after install. Week by week, I keep lowering it more and more. On the rear, I got about 1" left as it stands.
Thanks to everyone else for their feedback.
If you look carefully, you can see the subframe connectors..getting lower and lower.

How come you didn't use the JIC's on your other max? This Daily Driver is coming together nicely, I tried also to keep my 2nd max as a daily driver with no mods and was not successful either lol.

looks great so far, can't wait to see more pics.
if my memory serves me correctly, the wiz is already a 2-time MOTM with his other car. i think it was 2 months in a row so technically he would be the 3-time, 3-time, 3-time MOTM! lol

The reason why the JIC's went on my 98 and not the 99 is because I wanted dampening AND lowering control right away on the 98, and if I really liked these coilovers, I'd get a second set for the 99 (and not waste any time transferring/installing the progress coilovers to the 98)
Right now I'm riding around with the dampening at full stiff. It's firm, but not too firm or rough. So far, I much prefer these over the Progress Coilovers.
Since it's my daily driver, I can't go too far. Nothing crazy. Luckily, the Stillen SC kit is 50 state street legal for 95-98 Maximas. Gotta order some miscellaneous hardware, and my extra SC kit I've had laying around for years will finally be installed.
In preparation of boost, I've installed a tranny cooler, and an all aluminum oversized Griffin radiator.
Thanks Redline Max! Yeah, I was MOTM for about 6 weeks since my run started in the middle of the month.

Got the G35C rims installed with some lightweight gunmetal Volk lugnuts
On the lift, I got about 2 1/2 fingers of wheel gap in the rear. On the ground, I have 1/2 finger wheel gap.
On the front I have about 4 fingers of gap while on the lift, and 1/2 finger wheel gap when on the ground. Pretty tight suspension. Still gotta go lower!!
What size spacer do you guys think I need in the rear for flushness?
I'll update the pics again when I go lower...then again when I get me some spacers

I thought with his fenders rolled flat and the plastic pushed up, it would negate those problems?
Fender lip is about 20mm give or take? Push it flat and ull have space for the 20mm spacer. I base this off of nothing tho and am just saying words.
