Should I remind you about the time you tried to drive your G in the snow?

Yep. Snow tires, baby. But only when the wife's car isn't available, and I absolutely have to be somewhere. However, working at home means those times are few and far between. Man has it been snowing... So far our plow guy has been here three times in just the one day. After he's done, I have to get out the shovel just to get into the garage.

Cars and Copters? What's that all about?

I kept the max as my beater but it was rear ended by a 17 year old who was texting and driving. I have a 330xi now for the winter. I put my 370z away in the winter, with RE-11s for tires its not drivable haha.

Cars and Copters is a car/helicopter show that's in MA. I was going to bump Zs thread with a pic but I couldn't find it...

hehe I see what you did there...I'm just kidding

I saw the mini-movie about the new M3 & M4 coming out and I thought to myself "Aren't they the same exact car?" lol

BMW no doubt makes good cars but I am somewhat iffy about their new direction with the example being that and the transition to electric steering. Still, at least with zero's 3 series you can just get a tune, crank up the boost, and whoosh whoosh

Sometimes I really miss my Maxima, too. But only because of all the countless hours modifying year over year to exactly to how I wanted the car. Sold it to merovi here on the Org two years ago. Last month it got totaled. (No one got hurt except the car, BTW.)

RIP sweet 5.5 gen.

However, nostalgia doesn't make me too sad, because G.

Bummer to hear that your 5.5 got totaled. I recently found out that after I bought/rebuilt/totaled my 5.5, someone in Springfield, MA bought/rebuilt it again. Total zombie situation, haha.

And +1 on nostalgia not making me sad.

I hate the new business model that BMW is going with. I understand why because MB is trying to fill any gap with dreadful cars. They are getting bloated, and losing character for all of the luxury brands.

However, the M4... a little too aggressive in styling IMO, but the numbers seem to suggest less weight, more power, and being a BMW Twin Turbo... could have MASSIVE potential for modifications. From the basic news I've read, the new motor is closely related to the N54/N55 platform which could improve potential on both ends. ///M parts PLZ.

Electric steering is a funny concept to me. Die hard porsche guys are crying, BMW fanboys have no idea what's going on, yet the S2000 had electric steering and was probably some of the best response you could experience behind the wheel.

I miss my Maxima a lot actually. I wish I could've kept it but it wasn't worth to fix. Yes, the 335 is a different animal, but for a torque-steering, crap suspension, midsize, yet surprisingly light, FWD sport sedan... it was my favorite, and my first car. Nice to think about how 7 years evolved my 5.5 from stock to modified, and my knowledge of cars.

Sorry to hear about yours Rochester. Your 5.5 was a work of art. I can't even read the word "powdercoating" without thinking about the pornographic macro shots you posted about bolts and pipes... awkward.

Speaking of... I am looking to get some parts powdercoated over winter for spring. What was that finish you used? It was a hyper silver/black no?

On that note, to update the list...

- OEM M3 High Kick Performance spoiler purchased, being painted body color and installed in Spring.
- VRSF will be getting a lot of my money. Local vendor, and quality stuff. I'm going with their Charge Pipe (comes polished, but this is where I need your powdercoating expertise Rochester) with Tial BOV, 7" FMIC, and 3" Downpipes.
- Brakes will be done soon, not sure if I'll spend for the Z4 rotors yet, but at least a better pad compound.
- Hoping to pickup a simple suspension setup soon. Swift Spec-R springs + Koni Yellow struts.
- If the budget doesn't go haywire, I'd like to get the Apex EC-7 (track worthy rep of the BBS GT4 RE) wheels as well.. .

Dude, you're just begging me to ***** up your thread with pics.

You're probably thinking about when I had the coolant pipes powdercoated in Black Chrome. At least, that's the color the PowerCoater called it.

Yeah man, nothing pornographic about this at all.

I also had the radiator brackets coated in the same color:

And the strut brackets on that Racingline FSTB:

And the NWP Torque Link. I was particularly fond of this one:

Was it a particular brand or what not? I'm eager to have the charge pipe done in the same finish.

Beats me. But you can reach out to the Powdercoater and ask him if you want. He may or may not help... IDK. It's not like you're local and giving him any business.

http://www.lelandpowdercoating.com/

An alternative is to take a tablet/laptop or photo print of these pics to your guy and say, "See this color? I want this color."

Mine is sitting in a junk yard in framingham I believe...lots of mods on it...plus 90% tread tires...who knows how the rust treated it over the last two years though.

Guy always runs his mouth...

Yes, so the 335 went in for some service. She developed a wastegate rattle, a common, and known issue. SO well known, that there was a class action lawsuit, BMW extended the warranty, blah blah. ANYWAYS, that meant bringing in the car...

Samuel1021 set me up with a pretty 2013 328xi loaner, that I drove like I stole... and it still managed to get great mpg.

Back to my car... So, in order to repair this issue, they need to replace the turbos with new units that have the updated wastegates. How this is done, is by using a rig to drop the entire front subframe, suspension, transmission and all.

While in the hands of a really good tech there, I had them do the carbon cleaning (where they spray and vacuum walnut media over the valves to clean the buildup), new vacuum lines, new spark plugs. Because of the engine pull, coolant and P/S fluid was flushed as well, and the front end aligned to spec.

I can confirm the car came back clean, strong, and pulls harder than ever.

Holy crap, that's complex! What an amazing piece of engineering you have there, Zero.

In other news, I just dropped $3350 on a set of Vossen CVT's and Michelin PSS. Like two minutes ago.

Nice! Congrats! Can't wait to see the pics of them mounted. I was close to buying the wheels I wanted, but backed off for a while. Trying to mod somewhat responsibly... if that even exists.

I was definitely still scared, but everything worked out. I admit I hate taking my cars to dealerships. I am nice about it, but I make sure proper prep is in order. Nothing was left in the car, wash/wax right before I drove there, took pics of each panel and the mileage, requested no wash, etc..

Next up:

- Cyba intake scoops (mate to stock snorkel to feed air thru grilles)

- Osram Xenarc 66144 CBI D1S bulbs. I've read into these things, and they come stock on the new F10 5 series and S63 AMGs. OEM grade 5000K bulbs, with lumen output of a 4300K bulb. Geeking out about these things.
