VQ35 S/C question
I ask because I have customer with a 2k3 max that has found a complete Stillen kit in great shape, for a great price.
Is there a reason a custom bracket would not work on the 3.5? Is the VVt in the way? Is it that no body has tried? ( I've read some of the Matty posts. next comment please unless I missed something).
The fab work is easy, I have cnc milling in house as well as laser cutting and welding for a custom plate as well as spare vq35's on engine stands, but is that the only real obstacle that has stopped people from keeping the 3.5 timing stuff?
second question, those that step down to the 3.0 timing cover......I assume both inner and outer are needed?

the problem with supercharging the fwd vq35de is the space.
the engine sits close to frame so you don't have much options on running the belt (or even making a custom crank pulley to drive the SC separately)
you're not the first person/shop/fabricator to try it..
strictly speaking for the 02-03 maxima (same body as 00-01 that has a working SC for the 3.0L engine) on 04+ the body is completely different.
the position and fitment of the vortech blower - you just don't have the room to position it so it would drain properly/clear hood.
the vtcs are in the way for proper belt routing even if you were to somehow make a plate and actually make it fit inside the space without cutting out radiator support etc.
the 3.5L engine has the stupid oil warmer coolant line coming from the longer t-stat to the oil filter sandwich plate that sits in the way of belt/pulley routing (you can remove it though and block it off on the vq block and use a 3.0L t-stat for more room)
here's how they get away with installing it on a RWD block.. they put it all the way to the side and drive it with a separate belt/dual belt pulley

just notice where the SC would sit if you were to put that in FWD configuration..
rwd plate..

rwd SC position

that SC plate would sit inside the radiator support/headlight if it doesn't sit directly on the frame.
I hope that puts anyone on the right path of even attempting to make something work..
