19" Rims

Has anyone ever seen 19" rims on a Max. Im getting new rims thinking about going with 18" rims. Is 19" overkill?? what are the pitfalls of such a big friggin rim?
Thanx

There are like 20 cars in this forum that currently have or used to have 19"s. Kloogy, me (old Max- pg 2 homepage), MyOwnNismo, MaxGTRsomething, thebigsadler, BigDogJonx, look2me40, etc, etc....

it all depends on what wheels your looking at. even some 19's look small.

big wheels = little tires = rough ride and good chace of bending them, if your roads are bad

if you've got nice roads, though, I think 19's look PERFECT on a max.

I just put a set of 19's on my 4th gen this past weekend. They'll eventually wind up on my 5th gen. To be honest, the ride isn't that bad. The baseline was eibachs and AGXs with stock SE 16's and 225/55-16 tires. Right now I'm running 19's with 245/35-19s and the ride really isn't much rougher. Thie proved my suspicion that the springs/struts account for most of the ride quality.

The car doesn't really accelerate any worse either from my "seat of the pants" non-scientific method.

i just put on 19's this week [08.23.2003], and i think it looks great. i can't wait for my progress springs to sag a little and once i get new shocks, it will go down just a tad bit more. my gf's digital camera just got in this monday [08.25.2003], so i will get pictures up asap and they will be on my page

What do you want? performance? or bling? or a little bit of both? if so, then pic a nice 18" wheel that has a big spoke design. With 19" the tires are a bit more and you are going to be weighed down, most 19's weigh 30+ lbs just the rim alone.

bottom line is it slows down your car WAY to much to be worth it, not matter how good they look.

to me the 19's were worth all the hp lost. unlike everyone else on here i don't beat on my car. i'm happy to say that i have the slowest max here.

I've gotta disagree. The hp loss and the lower gas mileage are far less important to me than having a set of wheels that I really love. At 28 lbs each for 18"s, I might as well have 19"s.

19's are definitely the way to go for 5th gens, and doesn't hurt on 4th gens either...

Tires are very expensive, but 19s look awsome on 4th or 5th gen maximas
