205/40/17 tires ok for 17x7 rims?

i was wondring if i should get 205, 215, or 235 tires. im thinking 235/45/17 tires would be best but im kinda cheap. what is recomended the rims are Exel Lunas (on wheelmax). also 4 whoever has ordered off wheelmax, whta kind of tires do they come with?

235/45 are .5" too wide for a 17 x 7 inch wheel. Go with like 225/45/17 or something like that. You want your wheels to be protected by rubber. Yea, I want to know what brand tires the wheels come with from WheelMax also.

You better come to this Maxima meet on the 19th.

If you are going with a 17" rim, minimum width you want is 7.5". A 205/40/17 is too narrow, and the sidewall profile ratio is too small for that width, which means the overall diameter is much smaller than stock. Search for "Miata tire size calculator" and input the OEM size tire and the tire size that you are interested in, and it will show you speedo error (within 2% difference is what you are shooting for). BTW 235/40/17s require a minimum rim width of 8".

i have 235/45/17 on 17x7's and mine still rub at full turn. We tried 215/50/17 but thos rubbed still, so i kept the 235. Maybe this is just a 3rd gen problem. of coarse i did use a 45mm offset.

It shouldnt rub on 4th gens. I know a few people running 17x9's with 265's and no rub

thanks guys for clarifyign what size rim/tire to get.

Black Maxima, ill try to get to the Max meet but im going to the uconn-rice game the same day. since we are meeting in manchester (right?) which is close to hartford civic center, maybe ill stop by b4 the bball game. what time is the meet again?
