Need to beat friend's rsx-s

I have a stock 97 GLE Auto with no mods. What's the cheapest way to increase my 1/4 and be able to beat my friend's stock rsx-s?

I hear Type S's run high 14's stock......get a Y-pipe and Intake then race up to 60. A non-MEVI NA Max is no match for VTEC.

Get an intake, Y-pipe, and an exhaust if you want to beat him. This has a great deal to do with how good of a driver he is also. Modded RSX-S's can be real quick...

what intake should i get ? theres a lot of mixed thoughts and it almost seems as if a CAI won't even help much from what some of these people say.

That's a decision that you should make. IMO the Injen CAI on the 4th gens is awesome. It screams and gives it a nice power gain, but like I said, that choice is entirely up to you.

intake and ypipe won't allow you to beat your friend, but it will lessen the amount you lose by

if you drove a stick...it would be much more evenly matched

even then, you will have to drive stick extremely well to beat him by a little.

type S's don't run high 14's stock. an awesome drive could probably bang out a 14 second pass stock but it's not something you'll see every day. basically the Spec-V, RSX-S and Celica GTS are on on the same page and low 15 seconds stock

I agree with chris, the RSX is a really hard car to drive, When i was auto, and have Intake, y pipe and Exhuast, i took one from a 30mph roll till about 80 then he passed me.

Now that i have converted to a 5 speed with the same mods, i kill the living hell out of him.

depends what gear your opponent was in at the time...
since you can't get back into first from a roll...the rsx was at a disadvantage there

Chris...with a good driver and ideal track conditions...they see 14.7 stock

the sentra has yet to brake into the 14's stock as far is i know...

the 4th gen max 5spd has a bit of an edge on the sentra...but not on the type s

There was an RSX-s 6 speed at the track when i was there. He ran 3 times and the best he could run was a 16.1??

I wonder what the 4th gen Max's were running when they first came out...

Bad track conditions or bad driver would attest to that. They can pull off much better than that stock.

I ran an rsx-s when he was stock, and then after intake and exhaust. I beat him from all speeds, and especially bad from a stop. I never walked away from a roll, but I slowly pulled away the whole time. If I didn't have the MEVI/ECU combo, he would beat me. I would venture to say that you have no chance of beating him, because I have just about every bolt-on.

please show me multiple slips then because i know plenty of "good" drivers and go to one of the known fastest tracks around and they don't see 14's stock. we run the celica, spec and rsx all the time together and these are "good" drivers
