I'm improving
Todays conditions aren't what I'd call Ideal, but I headed out anyways.
Temp 56degrees Winds west at 28mph with 33mph gust (headwind) Humidity 66% Track elevation above 3,000 ft. I finally figured out how to get a decent 60ft time with shallow staging. This time I figured I'd prepair myself better so I dropped my front tires to 25psi and removed items in my trunk. I also changed out the Bosch Platinum 4's with NGK-Vpower and there doesn't seem to be a difference running through the gears, only at lower rpms if even slightly. I only ran a total of 5 times, two runs where I actually didn't misshift unfortunately. I couldn't for the life of me find 3rd gear for some reason but on those runs I still scored similar 60ft times. My best two runs: Reaction .043 60ft 2.377 100ft 0.000 1/8 9.998 MPH 71.612 1000FT 12.985 1/4mile 15.497 MPH 90.114 Reaction .014 60ft 2.273 100ft 0.000 1/8mile 9.921 MPH 71.950 1/4mile 15.312 MPH 90.806 How much could that 28-33mph headwind effect my times, especially my trap? I couldn't get above 91mph like I have in the past. Launching techniques 2,500rpm slip clutch. I shallow staged letting out the clutch to get the car moving without chirping on the last yellow light and s split second later I let out the clutch quicker, getting off the clutch at I would say 2,800-2,900rpm to get a nice squeal and went WOT without traction issues. |
Nice reaction times. I need to get consistant ones in the .000-.050 range for bracket racing.
Looks like the headwind was setting you back about 1 mph. You could do 15.0-15.1 the way you drive. You second time is similar to a run I made when I was stock. 2.264 60' and a 92.05 mph trap speed resulted in a 15.07 with a sh*tty, way too low 2-3 shift. a 2.300 60' and a 91.78 mph trap speed resulted in a 15.00 with good shifts. Pull that 2.27 again and with a very high 91 or low 92 mph trap speed it would be possible to see a 14.99. My launch technique was a 1,800 rpm granny clutch dump, which netted consistant 2.30-2.35 with the 2.26 being a fluke. It also resulted in a .022 R/T and quite a few in the .040-.080 range. I shift at redline in first and gradually lower for the rest of the shifts. |
I try to land my shift points at indicated:
6,600rpm 1-2 6,300rpm 2-3 6,200rpm 3-4 It doesn't make a difference if I shift or leave it in third but I normally shift to 4th. |
i shift to 4th as well and I have more success that way
|
those are your stock times? not bad at all. I dont shift into 4th, but i may try that next time
