*VIDEO* New PB's and last time for the cammed DEK??
EDIT: Full-size video added (720x480). Download it here.
So I got out to the track yesterday, managed to get 7 runs in and set some new PB's across the board on pretty much every 1/4 mile stat. I had a few issues during the day with traction and even some clutch slip now (uh oh) so I wasn't uber consistent but not too bad. Anways, the new best sixty foot is a 1.73, and best ET and trap is now 12.61@108.98. My runs went as follows: Run . . . 60 ft . . . 1/8 ET . . . 1/8 mph . . . .1/4 ET . . . .1/4 mph #1 . . . 1.8020 . . .8.2049 . . . .85.40 . . . . 12.7579 . . . 108.17 #2 . . . 1.7501 . . .8.0960 . . . .86.50 . . . . 12.6130 . . . 108.98 <---- bold = new PB's #3 . . . 1.7611 . . .8.1882 . . . .85.68 . . . . 12.7510 . . . 107.95 #4 . . . 1.7608 . . .8.1177 . . . .86.20 . . . . 12.6489 . . . 108.16 45 min lunch break #5 . . . 1.8401 . . .8.1332 . . . .85.71 . . . . 12.6820 . . . 108.46 #6 . . . 1.7738 . . .8.1527 . . . .86.03 . . . . 12.7218 . . . 107.09 #7 . . . 1.7372 . . .8.2161 . . . .84.94 . . . . 12.8351 . . . 106.39 <---- bold = new PB I was really disappointed in #5, since that was the run after the longest cool down break of the day, and I got stuck in the lane I don't like (the left), that always sucks and gives traction problems off the line. As you can see the car ran pretty strongly that run once it got going, so with a 1.75 sixty foot or so that pass would have been a high 12.5... :( Runs #6 and #7 I had issues with some clutch slip, unfortunately. Not severe but you could smell it afterwards and my ET and mph dropped quite a bit on those 2 runs, although I did manage to somehow hit the 1.73 by playing with tire pressure. So #7 was a bummer too, because a good launch like that should have gotten me a high 12.5. :( Here's the timeslip for run #2, and as always I have video but don't have it edited together yet, so that will be added in the near future. All in all, I'm happy with the results but being only 2 hundredths away on the ET and trap from a 12.5x and 109.xx was a little disappointing, and I do feel the car is capable of it, although I would say that's just about the limit, unless I can somehow drop half a tenth further on the sixty foot. http://img2.putfile.com/thumb/7/18612205882.jpg |

Your times are where I was running with the 3.5 swap and cams. Can't wait to see what you can get out of it when you swap it in. The max power probably won't be much higher but you will have 50 lb-ft more torque and a flatter powerband to work with.

The 3.5 setup is going to be boosted, so it won't be optimized for N/A use, even though it will remain N/A for the remainder of this year. Therefore whatever numbers/times I get out of it won't reflect the full potential of an N/A 3.5, that's not the goal of the build. |

You just ran a 12.6 @ nearly 109 MPH on an NA 3.0L and you're going to a boosted 3.5L. Wow. God help the rest of the automotive community when they finally see what a Maxima is capable of with a good driver!

There are several guys like Neal, sleeper, Mardi, Jime etc who are good drivers and knowledgeable enthusiasts so if it took a lot of work for them to run what they have I'm sure it won't be easy for me either. So hats off to them, they deserve a lot credit for blazing the trail also! Guys like SR20DEN and tilley too... As for me, all I will say at this point is that I'll try to do the best I can with the resources (or lack thereof lol) that I have to work with, and however it turns out, the important thing is that I'm still enjoying the car, even though it's almost 10 years old now (wow it doesn't seem that old somehow...) |
wow dude that crazy man.......... congrats im just hoping for low 14's with my auto DEK and thats hard as is, but you on the other hand make 12 sec seems like its a simple task, lol excellent work, you need to come down MD and participate in our imports vs domestics, these fools dont beleive me when i tell em dont sleep on us

Very kind of you to say that, however the faster you go the harder it gets to go faster, it's not a linear relationship. It's a lot easier to go from 14's to 12's, than to go from 12's to 11's or even 10's... :shy:

If your going to swap for a 3.5 at least spray the dek.. i think it would break into 11's with a 100 shot.

^^ Yup. Plus I have no desire to ever use nitrous, it's not my style.
On another note, I found out a friend of mine is going to the track on Saturday (May 17) so I may end up going out for one more crack at it, but that will almost certainly be the final time. |
:doublethu Amazing what you are putting down. Time to invest time and $$ on EU.... What are you estimating to put down with the next setup?

It's not gutted, but I can't be bothered to do that at this point, not worth the effort for the few hundredths it'll save me. I take the passenger seat out and my driver's seat is a racing seat, other than that most of the interior is in place when I race... carpet, rear seats, all trim panels, glove box, console etc - most of it's all there.

I am fully aware that he is running EU, I meant for myself.... If used properly as dandy is currently using it, huge gains are to be had.
