First time at the track...

I went to Pacific Raceways yesterday for the first time. I was only able to make one pass and it was 1/8 mile. Pacific Raceways is a 1/4 mile track... I showed up at 9am, but racing didn't start until about 2pm. They had to dry out the track due to heavy rain the night before.

R/T .212
60' 2.445
330 5.958
1/8 8.756
MPH 87.49

My 60ft time greatly suffered because I didn't launch it hard enough and it bogged. I was afraid it would spin even with slicks. I also had the nitrous set up to start at 4k rpm and it should have been set lower or I should have revved it higher. I revved it to 4.5k and it bogged down to 2-2.5k. My clutch is also very difficult to slip.

I planned to make an NA pass. Then unbolt the cat and make a 75 shot pass followed by a 150 shot pass. I was only able to make a single 150 shot pass with the cat installed... I'm sure my trap speed would have been higher if the cat was unbolted and I launched it harder.

All in all, I'm happy with the run because I know it didn't spin when the nitrous kicked in and my car is making the power that I was expecting. If only I could have made some more passes and tried launching it hard. Oh well, I guess I'll have to wait until next season.

Relevant mods:
NX 150 shot
M&H 23x7.5x15 12 psi
Limiting Straps
ACT 6-puck
WSP 2.5" exhaust
Fidanza Flywheel
ASP Pulley
CAI
minor weight reduction (seats and trunk trim)

I forgot to mention that I'm running chevron 92 octane pump gas and stock timing (15* @ idle).

87mph is badass! Good job man!

Now just get that 60ft down and get some low 8s.

DUDE! That 1/8 trap is good for low-13s! Holy crap! Imagine what it would do launching at a 1.9-2.0 60'! The great thing is.. with the same 60' your run is almost a full 11MPH above my N/A and 1 second faster too. Seesh!

Thanks! It definitely has the power to make a mid to low 12 second pass. I just need to launch it harder and run a full 1/4.

Seriously, that is one crazy VE. I can honestly say, even with my 120 shot I probably wouldn't come close to that. No way, no how.

an 87mph 1/8 is definitely good for 12's even at that 60' time. If you can get those slicks to hook you should be able to coast into 12's. Your 1/8 is 6mph faster than my 13.5 NA pass with the same 1/8th ET, so when you hook you should be flying. Nice work

My problem was that it hooked a lot better than I expected and I didn't launch it hard enough... lol

Gotta love it. That's what I had problems with at the track. My brain is wired to know how to launch it on the street w/o any wheelspin. But that's almost always softer, even on D/Rs, compared to the track.

That's a pretty good trap for the VE. With my VE Auto with 75 shot, I had a 83mph trap in the 1/8 with a 1.80 60 foot. I ran 8.1 in the 1/8 and 12.89 in the 1/4. Your gearing is way different than mine. But it's still a very solid run. That 60 foot needs improvement though. On good street tires, you should be able to get 2.1s. On slicks, you should be all over 1.9s with a good launch NA.

With a few more runs under your belt, I'm sure your 60 foot will drop to around 2.0 or better. Low/mid 12s are in your near future. Congrats!

Thanks!

It's frustrating because it'll be a few more months until I can run again...

Everyone always launches too soft their first time on slicks. It happens to us all. Tach it up higher and let it go, the slicks can take it. Try 5000 and 5500 next time.

You also learned something else valuable, never go to the track early in the morning after it has rained without calling the track and specifically asking them if the track is dry, and if not, how long it will take to dry it.

87.10mph is my best 1/8 mile trap. That was at MAXUS 09 in 90 degree weather. I ran a 12.80@108.8 on that run w/ a 2.05 60 foot.

Thanks!

I can't wait to see how well I can do in the full 1/4.

2451 feet above sea level. In the winter time, I see DAs well below sea level on a regular basis. I am waiting for -500ft or more, which is roughly 50 degrees here. The track tries to stay open all winter long weather permitting.

Pacific raceways is 10ft above sea level. The DA was -608 ft when I made my pass. Although, I don't think the DA would affect my car near as much as it would affect an your car because I'm using alot of nitrous. lol

I wish my track tried to stay open, but it wouldn't make any sense because we get alot of rain in the winter.
