Race 2010
Next Event http://www.cscs.ca/ 22 August 2010
Update 16 Aug 2010
Another unscheduled race but only a 2 hr drive. Entered 2 classes, 12.90 Index and Open Comp, 10 sec and slower with a .1 breakout. I won the 12.90 beating out a prepped Stang driven by the race promoter's Son (he wasn't happy) and placed 2nd in the Open Comp (over 100 cars) mega rounds, my M/T 22's are shot. Won $500 for the 12.90 and $750 for 2nd in the Open Comp. Not bad, $1250 for a race I wasn't going to attend. Payout was $1500 for 1st in Open comp which I lost by .03, the guy tree'd me with a .034 to my .095 my worst of the day, my other runs were mostly below .050.
Year Total $4550.
I didn't think it was possible to break the $5000 I won last year but it looks good with 2-3 races left.
Update 10 Aug 2010
http://www.traccracing.ca/ I won the Sportsman race on Sat $800 and placed 2nd in Street on Sunday $100. Was having a difficult time getting anyone to line up against me in the lanes, I guess I'm not as inconspicious as I thought.Year Total $3300
Update 26 July 10
This wasn't a scheduled race but I was given a brochure in Montreal that they had added a 11.50 class to this http://www.canadianoutlawshootout.com/ event. Had a great day and a close final (slip below). Car ran flawlessly and had a lot of people come up and ask about the car in the pits, it was the only street driven car at the event. $600 purse.
Year Total $2400.
Update 17-18 July 10
Another long drive (5 hrs) to Elliot Lake, entered Street Class, no slicks etc and there were 220 entries. I got down to 9 and then lost to a .509 r/t mine was .543 and the car stumbled a bit on the launch as i was off over .1 on my dial so that ended my day.
Update 27 July 10
Thanks to Luke, Claude and all the Montreal guys for making the trip so enjoyable, can't believe the response from these guys I feel like a celebrity down there.
Went to Montreal 10 July, 8 hour drive. Did a couple of N/a passes to check everything out and then tried a 75 shot. After it shifted to 2nd it started to miss so I let off and finished the pass. Car was evening missing N/A on the return road but it was inconsistent, sometimes it was there sometimes not. Checked everything over but didn't see anything that could cause it. I didn't pull the plugs because I didn't bring any spares and have never had plug problems before. I did try another pass but same results so drove home, it didn't miss as long as I kept a real light foot on the throttle. Gas consumption was the same on the way home as well. Next day I pulled the plugs (pic below). Electrodes burnt on 4 plugs, 2 normal. So why all of a sudden do I start burning plugs? I installed a 12-16v ignition module and although i thought the spark would be a bit stronger I never dreamed it would burn the plugs up. So I put it on a switch and just use it N/A. It could have been disastrous but compression is good so I got away with a cheap lesson.
Next race Montreal, 10 July. http://www.cscs.ca/
Update 21 Jun 10.
Another LONG weekend. Saturday started off great, entered 2 classes, Sportsman (12-14) and Street (14 and slower). We raced until 9 PM when race was called for rain. I was still in both events so they split up the prize money among remaining participants (around 8) and I got $270 for Sportsman and $142 for Street.
Sunday I hit a red light in Sportsman but went on to win the Street and collected $600 for a total of $1000 for the weekend. Not too bad but it would have been nice to finish the race on Sat.
Year total $1800.
Update 06 Jun 10
2010 has started off quite smoothly. I won my first bracket event 18 Apr just to try the car out after the winter. Went back on 30 May after I swapped the new engine to try it out before the first big event 06 Jun. Only came second (lousy r/t). Total winnings $150. The engine came out of an 07 with 9k on the odometer, that combined with my new trans with 5k should hopefully last me for a year or two.
Sunday 06 Jun was a great day, double entered 13.0 and 11.5 index classes (Pure Street & Street Warz) and won them both easily. At the awards ceremony they handed out the trophies and money for last years champions. I won both classes and was also awarded Driver of the Year as well. $650 day, not bad for an old geezer.
Next race is 19-20 Jun up north with a $1200 payout each day in Sportsman class (12.0-14.0 sec) and $600 payout each day in Street (14.0 and slower). Last year I won Sportsman on the sunday but only entered one class, this year I will be double entered, so hopefully I will get a little birthday present.
Only planning on 8 events this year, it was getting out of hand being gone every weekend and most of them didn't even pay expenses. This year I have selected the ones that not only pay but are fun to compete in.
Year total $800
I will update this first post as the year progresses.

Awesome Jim, cant wait to see more of you racing this year. Looks like the Transgo is doing a good job, my shifts are great. Any plan to spray this season? Is this the same hurt motor or did you put in a fresh one?

This is a new engine, just dropped it in a couple of weeks ago, couldn't resist with only 9k on it, was still shiny all over. Its bone stock though didn't even put the cams in, may do that later but its performing well as is.

Should get that from the grocery store in Napierville, if not, ill go get it for you elsewhere. Will you sleep in the parking lot like last year??? they announce huge pours for the night. 50mm... if I had an extra room for you, i'd be glad to welcome you home... at least, if it pours hard, douglas hotel is right next to the track.

All except for a couple. The 3 in my console are for switching maps on the UTEC, hi and lo fan speed and bottle heater. My cruise switches turn on my 2nd stage nitrous and the other turns off the 1st stage when I am ahead of my comp. I have other switches for cruise, manual gear shifting, brake lamp switch so no one sees when i brake, nitrous activation, Suprastick manual/auto switch, map switch, over-run solenoid switch etc
