Going to the track tonight on street tires
We'll see what I run. I don't have a helmet right now, but I don't think I'll need it. lol
Also, never ran at a 1/4 mile track before. Just at a 1/8 mile track. (numbers in sig on drag radials) Wish me luck! |
in for numbers! gl! i say mid-high 13's

In for numbers as well.. have fun. I personally prefer the 1/4 over the 1/8th..
|
good luck bro ;)

Ran four 14.1 passes. At least I was consistent lol.
I couldn't get any better than a 2.2 60' and that was definitely hurting my ET's. Haven't ran at the track in forever on street tires. Definitely not as fun as running on drag tires. lol Still think a 14.1 is pretty good for a intake/exhaust/stock exhaust manifold 6th gen. For comparison purposes: California 1/8___________Kansas 1/8 Drag radials____________Street tires 8.7 ET________________9.2 ET 1.9 60'________________2.2 60' Let me know what you guys think. |
Seems about right.
|
My car could use some headers, but damn, they are expensive.
Just found out that the DA for last night was somewhere around 2500. That is definitely not helping lol. |
sure would be nice to know your trap speeds... maybe even see an entire timeslip broken down to more than just the nearest 10th of a second

I want to get some slicks, drag radials suck on a fwd car. The bad thing with the 6th gen is that the brakes are to big and a 15" wheel won't clear even with grinding. I don't even know if a 16" wheel will clear. No full slicks in a 16" wheel anyways. I know that a 17" fits because I had some 205/40-17 drag radials before. They weren't anything special though. 17" tire sizing sucks though. I don't know what I am gonna go with. |
well if you can fit 16s you can get Hoosier Quick Time Pros, ET Streets, or M&H Cheaters (you have to have a really wide wheel for the M&H though).
Mickey also makes a 17" ET Street, but it similarly would require a really really wide wheel. That's about it though as far as bias ply tires go for 16s and 17" that would realistically fit a max. BTW nice consistency. Good job. |
Nice numbers. What's up with the "Kansas" comparison?
|
nice runs.... i need to get some tires too... high 13's is possible

I'm comparing what I ran in Kansas and what I ran in California. The difference in the California times were the drag radials. My mph was also slightly better in California. Better DA.

Yeah tires are needed. My 1/8th mile times were so much better on drag radials than on street tires. They will only get better with a bias ply as well. If I can run the same 8.7 1/8th out here, it should translate into around a 13.7. |
What track in Kansas is this? I'm in Kansas City and usually run at KCIR. Haven't run in years though.

Kansas International Dragway (KID)

nice times for street tires. That's some good, consistent driving right there, nice work! Curious to see what it does with headers, slicks, and a low da.

Headers are definitely needed, but I think I am gonna try to get it as fast as possible with the stock manifolds/cats. I'm gonna try to get it hooking first. I got to try to find a solution to getting a good tire over these big brakes. Gonna run some rubber spring boosters in the rear to stiffen up the suspension also. Gonna do some homemade solid motor mounts. lol I'm also gonna try to figure out some sort of ram air. |
^^ no point, just upgrade the headers, i remember my auto 5th gen doing 15.0 which was second fastest for auto 5th gens, no point though... just upgrade ur mods to upgrade ur times

 Ram air? Hooking better will make his et lower. Traction is just as important as power...

I want to get this thing pulling 1.7-1.8 60fts. Then the times will really drop, with no added power. |
good luck dawg....i never ran on a track....i will in two weeks.....

and i do not disagree, if you read earlier in the thread you would've seen where i said i wanted tires too.... what im saying is whether he gets better traction now it would still be better if he had the upgraded headers... lemme ask you something, would you prefer hitting a 2.0 or even a 1.9 60' with I/E or I/H/E???
It's too bad I can't make any more passes in my car this season, because I'm almost positive it would pull at least a 1.69 60' or better. |

I found that removing the driver side "turning light" provides a path directly to the filter. We'll see if that makes a difference. The next test and tune isn't for awhile so I am going to see what I can do to the car in the time being.

nice times, traction is definitely vital.
I guess fifteens will not fit over my ser brakes either.... hmmmmm.. I just picked up some of those racingline traction rods for cheap, now I just have to swap my clutch and figure out this tire situation. whatever u pick keep us posted. cant wait to put some slips up, finally... nice times and good luck! |
Talking to a guy in arizona about shipping some FD RX7 wheels with some 26x10.5-16 ET streets on them. If the shipping cost isn't through the roof I am getting them. Hopefully, they fit without having to grind. If they don't, I'm prepared to grind the sh1t out of the brakes. :D
This combo should work out pretty well. The FD wheels only weigh around 15lbs, I think even less, and the ET streets actually turn out to be a 8.5 tread width. Should be more than enough tire. |

Of course a i/h/e would be better with traction than just i/e with traction. You were saying that there's no point to improve traction and to just get headers. Honestly, I'd prefer hitting a 1.6-1.7 60' with i/h/e. ;)

i/h/e will probebly still yeild a better time than i/e and traction as you will still spin, just minimal
My car will be dead hooking when I get the tires and suspension figured out. I would bet money that a intake, exhaust, slicked car would beat a intake, header, exhaust, street tire car anyday. |

that cant really be measured accurately, if you are pulling 2.0' (which i am) radials will probebly help my times by .2 seconds im sure the addition of headers would equal more than .2 seconds (again this is just generally speaking as this isnt as easy to compare) slicks im not so sure about as i donnt really look much into em... i should though

Nope, it's not fixed yet. :( My hours at work were cut way back and I haven't been able to afford to fix it. I did just get a new job, so it should be fixed soon (with direct port:wall:).
Thanks. Even though the quality sucks, I still love watching my videos. lol. http://www.streetfire.net/video/92-m...iew_728654.htm Love hearing the unit come on hard. :D |
