I think I've found my muffler!
I think I'm going to go with a Magnaflow muffler. Reviews have said
their not as loud as the flowmasters plus they come with a lifetime warranty. I want one of the Aluminized fit unvirsal mufflers. I'm going to get one of the single dual and it looks like this http://www.magnaflow.com/02product/u...gifs/3sd14.jpg Here is where I need help from you guys, I don't know if I should pick the: 5"x8" 20" (from tip to tip and 14" from wall to wall) 2.25"/2" or the 5"x8" 20" (from tip to tip) 2.5"/2.5". OR should I go with the 5"x8" 24" (from tip to tip and 18" from wall to wall) 2.25"/2" or the 5"x8" 20" (from tip to tip) 2.5"/2.5". The link to see what I'm talking about is below http://www.magnaflow.com/02product/universal/oval.htm Now for the tips. I told you guys that I wanted exhaust tips also. I'm choosing between some: Ractive square cut 8 3/4" x 3 1/4" x 1 7/8" I.D. - LONG tips(really like these!) http://shop.ivalueinternet.com/bigex.../large/807.jpg or Magnaflow Stainless Steel Rolled Edge tips http://shop.ivalueinternet.com/bigex...ips_rolled.jpg g part#s 35129 or 35134. (cheaper plus it's a magnaflow product) My final question is I want a cat back so will a shop be able to just make the pipes for me or is it best to just replace the whole system including conveter? Sorry for the long post. I hope you all understand it. |
Well it depends on whether your car needs to have the cat and everything replaced. If everything from the headers to the cat are in good condition, I suggest you just stick with the Cat-Back. Do between 2.25"-2.5" to get some power out of it. (Stock size is 2"). Get the same side diameter piping on the muffler to the size pipe you use. Also keep in mind, when your going with that type of muffler, and opening the exhaust, your car will be getting considerably louder. Depending on what sound your looking at, if you don't want it sounding ricey, you might have to throw in a resonator somewhere between the cat and muffler.

Go with the ractive tips, they look cool, and should go with the squarish ends of maximas, and as for muffler, the 24" might muffle the sound a bit more, just my 2cts. :) |
Thanks for the input guys. I like the ractives too but I foud some pilot bolt on tips with a "resonator". Are bolt ons just as good as welding? If not I think I'll just go with the rectangular tip manaflows. Also since I'm getting a magnaflow resonator so I think i'll stick with the 20".

I'd have them welded on, but it should be fine bolted on too.
