Help - 1985 security system problem!!!
Hello,
I am having a huge problem with the security system on my 1985 nissan maxima. The alarm will go off for no reason and I cannot turn it off except by unhooking the battery. Even after I have unhooked the battery and tried to re-hook it, the alarm is still going off. I read in the manual that I should be able to de-activate the alarm by opening the door or the trunk, but neither work. The last bad thing is that when the alarm is going off the car won't start. I pulled the horn fuse so the horn doesn't randomly blare when the alarm is set off, but starting the car is still a problem. What I did is took out the "indoor lamp" fuse that turns off the security light and for some reason the car starts - BUT ONLY WHEN THE DOOR IS OPEN!??
I really want to sell this thing and think I will be able to get quite a bit more for it if I could start the car with the door closed!
Is there anyone who can tell me how to either fix this problem or de-activate the alarm so the security system will not prevent me from starting the car?
Thank you,
Darren

Well, there is the control box that in the truck under the parcel shelf. You could try disconnecting the harness to the control unit and see if you can still start the car. If not, you either got a sensor that is bad, or the control unit itself could be bad. It's hard to diagnose.
