Wipers don't work - 1st Gen

So, the ghetto brown max is up and running. Needs a new alternator but all else is going well.

Anyway, the wipers don't work at all. Just thought I would throw out a question as to weather the wiper motor usually goes out (I've never seen one broken on a car) or is it the switch. I've moved that switch arm around a lot while in each position and not even a hint of movement in the wipers.
your thoughts?

Ya, all the fuses are good as well as the links.

Relay?

It could well be the Wiper Relay. It is located under the black cover in front of the front right shock tower... if you're looking at the relays from this angle:

BATT RELAYS SHOCKTOWER

The wiper relay would be #5

RELAYS
10 8 6 4 2
9 7 5 3 1

Try swapping it with another relay and see if that helps. If it turns out to be a bad motor, I've got a spare.

Yeah, it'd be either a relay, switch or motor. Also though it's unlikely, I'd check to see if there are is any binding with the wiper rods.

Yes, the wiper motors do go bad...

I replaced mine at about 140,000. And, I did it myself, so you can be sure it wasn't too difficult a job...

No binding. With the motor partway disconnected I can see that I can move the blades a little with no resistance and can turn the motor around so its not bound up inside.

I pulled the relay you mentioned and others. There is power to one wire at the motor at all time even with the relays unplugged. Maybe it is supposed to have power all the time for the blades to "return" to their resting point when the switch is off.

However, the motor has a little white semi-transparent plastic cover on it. I can see every once in a while a little arch inside there. Not good! With the switch on, I now notice that I can hear the relay click. Also, the wiper delay relay next to it clicks on and off as usual. maybe it is just the motor.... ?

Well, if the motor is arching, it could be it. Probably won't hurt to try it out.
