2nd gen intake

I am am going to buy a second gen in the near future and I was wondering if anyone sells intakes for it. I know some of you all have made your own but I am trying to find out if you guys have started selling the ones you are making or is their any manufacturer that has started producing them. Just let me know...an intake is probably the only mod I will do since I have spent so much in my fourth gen. Thanks.

We finally have the CAI available for the car. You can order through littlepiggie, he's the guy that makes em. piggieracing@comcast.net

Definately worth it on this car if you want a little more performance.

has anyone tested it for performance gains? I mean I would get it just for the sound, but I was just curious about the actual gains.

Currently I'm the only one that has the CAI installed. I have a noticeable gain both in sound and performance. During the meet when we installed it, I was able to pull a VE (though he was auto and pretty much stock) off the line, and keep up with a Untuned S/C 4th gen while he slowly and I mean slowly crawled away from me (I also have a few other mods going). Basically I have a couple people that can vouch for the performance gain. It was almost unbelievable. If you look at how the piping is, stock and compare it to the CAI, you'll notice how more direct it is. I have yet to dyno it, but I believe I'm pulling about 160-165ish hp and roughly 205-210tq at the crank now. My last dyno with a just a cone intake with the stock rat's nest piping, 2.25" exhaust from catback and 3rd gen 5-speed yielded 159hp, and 198tq at the crank. I'll try to do a dyno to see exactly where I'm at.

so you got your intake made from that "piggie" guy? It sounds like one hell of a difference just from having an intake. I have a fourth gen and I have a injen CAI and other than sound there are not a ton of noticable performance gains. The Max that I am looking at buying is a 87 5 speed with 250000miles on it. The guy I may get it from is a nissan mechanic and he says everything is in good condition other than the a.c. does not work. He wants $800 for the car...does this sound pretty reasonable? I dont know much about 2nd gens. Thanks.

hmmm 250k miles, is he the original owner? If it's a nissan mechanic, that is definately a plus. Doesn't sound to bad. How's the history of the car? Either way it may sound like a good buy. Looks like your gonna use this more as a daily driver huh?

As for the intake, it definately seems like a good gain, but there's no way to know until I put it up on the dyno and get the numbers. I'm thinking of doing that this friday. My buddy is gonna record it on a camcorder to give you guys a better idea of how it sounds. I think it's definately worthwhile because of how much better the air flows over stock. (You'll see what I mean when you see the stock setup, it's a nightmare!) Either way I'll let you know on the gains.

yeah I am looking into this 87 Max for my "beater"...I need something else so I can keep miles off my 4th gen, with as much money as I have put into it I need to keep it off the road some, especially just around town and in bad weather. I am hoping this 2nd gen thing works out because I would love to have 2 Maxs. Its hard to show your car and compeate aganist guys that dont drive their cars....but that intake def. looks good....I sent you PM too just wondering what all comes with the "kit"...take it easy.
