Where would I find the codes for my Maxima to use the keypad on the doors ?

UPDATE ** Thanks for your replies. I found the code in the trunk and have since reprogrammed my door locks. One final question, is it possible that on the 1987 models you were unable to roll down the windows with the key codes ? There is no "WD 5/6" as per the tutorial. There is a "TRK 1/2" ... don't know what that one does !?

Thanks again !

Go to
http://www.kalebonline.com/maxima/

look in the tutorials, it tells you exactly what to do, except for as a 2nd generation maxima your "box" that your master code is on is in your trunk, under where the speakers are, so climb in and look up.

good luck

if this doesn't help, email me at akakaren@sprint.ca

you have to get that 7 digit number off of the box in the trunk. it will start with an S i think.

robbie 04-11-2001 03:48 PM

door pad #

yes, theere is a seven digit code that begins with S then number. it is located on the keyless entry control box which should be located in in rear of maxima. in the wagon its found just behind the seat by pulling out the hard foam casing for tools. then once you get the number just shut all doors, press the ST button then the seven digits. at this time a constant beep will sound. this is when you press in your desired personal code.
okay i hope this helps.

That is really weird!

Why in the heck does the drivers door not work on its own? I take it from all of the post that the drivers door does not have a "power" door lock motor on it?

Thanks,

Duffy

Ummm, that's only true for the 85-86 SE's if I remember right since it doesn't have an lock actuator nor that ability to unlock all doors with the key (you have to use the switch instead). The GL's and GXE's with keyless entry should work for all doors including drivers, and the 87-88 SE's have the ability to unlock all the doors with the key.

MaxWgn 09-23-2003 07:54 AM

My 87 GXE wagon unlocks all doors, including the hatch, with the key, in either dr. or pass. door, but will only lock all doors from the drivers key...

Slider 09-24-2003 05:14 PM

TRK will pop your trunk. And on my 88 GXE the drivers door would open if i entered the code without the key, and if i press the unlock button on the keypad then all the other doors would open. And if you opened the drivers door with the key all the doors would unlock, which was a stupid feature IMO. Would've been better if it only opened the drivers and if you turned it again it would open the rest.

Another question!

First, I want to thank everyone for their responses.

I tried to get the door panel off today to check out the locking mech. on the drivers door and could not get the inside handle loose? Any ideas? It doesnt look or work like the one that is in my Chilton's manual for a 85 Max! I tried six ways from Sunday to get the handle or the plastic surround off but to no avail! Help!!

I got the key pad working and it will unlock all the door EXCEPT the drivers. Using the key ONLY unlocks the drivers door. Puzzling!

Last question, how do I know what model I have? No where on the car does it say SE or anything like that, only Maxima and of course Nissan. I don't have the owners manual, it was lost about 50,000 miles ago!

Thanks again for all the help!!

maximase86 09-24-2003 07:15 PM

What color is the trim? Is it chrome or black, also since you have an 85....is it an auto or stick? SE's have black trim, and in 85-86 all SE's were sticks, and GL's were autos.

Trim Level

I must have the GL trim level. I have mostly black trim with just a little chrome only on the outside. And its an auto. I have never owned an Nissan, but really like this car. In it time, this car was a sharp one, now at 135,000 miles, it run like new, and shows the wear of maybe 50,000. You guys are good to help and all, Ford Truck World Forum could take a lesson or two from this Forum!!

I have just bought a 1985 wagon.. I cant seem to find the code anywhere in the back.. I took out that metal piece right behind the back seats, and it just had a bunch of electrical fuses/wires.. i couldnt find a code inscribed on anything..

tahnks for any help you provide...

btw.. im LOVING this car.. i had a 89 accord before i was run off the road into a utillity pole.. this car I stole for 1200$ (he was asking 1550$) .. ALL the electric 'goodies' work, the engine is CLEANCLEANCLEAN only has 158k on it, is powerfull as all hell and has the smoothest, steadyest<-? ride i have been in.. (ownd a 92 celly, 90gts celly, 86 mustang, 89 accord)

without a doubt, this car even tho it's the OLDEST i've ownd, it is the best running.. top end hasnt been touched yet (i wnat to change the oil first) but i know it will hit 110/120 .. so much power and pedal left @ 80mph it's not even funny!

anyway.. great board and ill be comming back ..

If memory serves me right it is a 9 digit code. but once you get the right code you hit the start button on the keypad and then punch in the 9 digit code after that it will beep for a few seconds and while it is beeping you need to put in your code but it can't be in order IE 1234 i don't think you can use the same key 2 times in a row. Once you get that done then hit the start key again and try your 4 digit code and if it worked the drivers door should unlock if it is locked (make sure you have your keys out with you lol) then you will have a few seconds to hit the button to unlock all doors and even pop the trunk.

Hope that helps ya

Keith

Holy old thread...

HowlerMonkey 06-02-2008 07:09 AM

Sweet............locked the keys inside a maxima and it had a dead battery.

Did you guys know about the driver's side signal light in the bumper has a provision for you to power up the systems from there so you can type in the code?.........and that it actually works?

sweet.
