Hello. I just got the 'hand-me-down' car thats been sitting in the garage for a while. Dad just told me that he's gona have the cooling and all the other problems replaced/fixed soon and then it's all mine. I was just wondering how I would go about replacing the audio system in the car. It has a new cd/receiver/tuner already, but I wanted to replace the speakers, maybe add amps or a sub. How should I start doing that? And can anybody give me like a rough estimate if I wanted to replace all of the speakers with decent or high-end ones? Thanks!

Go to the Audio/Electronics forum, you might get better answers there.

If you replace the speakers with factory size (4" in rear deck, 5 1/4" in the doors) you are looking at roughly $100 a pair for good 2-way speakers. If you get components instead of coxial 2-ways you are looking at about $250+ a pair. It all depends on just how good you want it to sound. Personally, coaxials work great for me as I would rather spend the money on go-faster goodies. Then subs, amps, and wires it can vary a lot depending on what you're looking for. So decided just how good a stereo you want because quality is proportional to price.
Hope this sheds some light on your question. I know its vague but its a difficult question... |
