Car Idle is high about 1600 rpm's
I rebuilt a power steering pump and installed it. When I started the car up it was leaking gas around the great slightly larger fuel line that Oreillys sold me to replace the rubber fuel line that goes to the fuel filter. I guess I let it run a couple minutes before I realized it was leaking. I tightened up the clamp and that stopped the leak but now she idles high. Maybe if I disconnect the battery it would reset the computer. Plan to try that soon. Has anyone experienced a similar problem with their car? I would appreciate any and all advice.

there is a few vacuum lines very near where you were working on that fuel hose. its a very good possibility that a vacuum line got cracked or disconnected. that would give you a high idle. check all your vacuum connections. the little one that goes to the cruise actuator is very easy to knock loose.

yep check vacuum lines, and if thats not it you might just have to turn it down. maybe check ecu for codes.

Thanks
Thanks gents I will check that at half time.

did you get a chance to check for vacuum leaks?
|
I did get a chance to check for the vacuum leaks and found a plastic adapter that connected a 1/4 hose to a 5/16 hose. It was broken so I rigged something temporary and that helped a little. I also found another hose cracked. I think I need to replace all the hoses under the hood. Has anyone tackled this before and are there any suggestions as to the best approach for this task?
