Hi all! I'm currently in the process of restoring a low-mileage 1982 810 wagon, and the final step towards getting it roadworthy again has been finding a fuel tank to replace the original rough, corroded one. I've done lots of searching and even ordered one tank, but every tank I've been able to find seems to only fit the 1982 sedan model. I'm assuming the wagon uses a separate unit, given the fact that the fuel sending unit I'm installing won't work with my current option. I'm open to any suggestions on how to possibly mend the existing tank (although with so many corrosion holes I'm doubtful that's an option), but I'm mainly looking for any leads I could use to find a compatible tank for the 1982 wagon model specifically. I've searched all sorts of fuel tank sources, most commercial options (including RockAuto), and looked for any available parts car in the nationwide LKQ database, all to no avail. I'd be grateful for any help I could get, and I'm hoping to hear back soon from anyone who could get this project back on the road!

I think your best bet may to just get this current one fixed up, there's shops that specialize in cleaning out fuel tanks in similar shape and patch up the holes and then coat the inside again. Many years ago I worked in a garage and some guy brought a motorhome with a weird fuel tank that was leaking and had holes, boss couldn't source a new or used replacement so we took it to some place that fixed it up and they did a good job
