not pealing out

I rode in a fellow org members car and all he did was hit the gas and his car pealed out. I just got new rims on my car and was driving around and when I hit the gas to the floor my car wouldn't peal out. Anybody know why its doing it.

thanks

my car is a 94 gxe and my friend has a 92 gxe and there both autos. The only upgrade he has right now is a CAI if that makes a difference. I just put 17's on my car.

well it could be the cai, but the 17" are probably slowing you down alot, I brought my car to the body shop and I took off my 17"s (not too heavy) and stuck on an org members 15" gle wheels and I was able to chirp 3rd gear, and I can never do that with my rims on. so tire weight makes a big diff.

Hence those 15" tires were practically bald.

I think those yokohama tires go for $20.00 a piece brand new

peeling out = traction loss
get some crappy tires and i can peel out in a metro.

TightBlack97 08-25-2002 07:41 AM

HA HA

Good to hear from you Brain. So you are back on the org with a new Maxima? :) Someday hopefully you will get one.

Oh yea peeling out. My Yokohama tires were $80 a piece and they have such good traction they will not squeal depending on surface which plays a big role with car tires. You guys know that come on.

it was pretty funny, did you notice that like a minute after I left it stopped raining.

tightblue89 these were like 215/65/15's with like 15% tread left

Yep I used to be able to spin right through second when I had some p.o.s. Mastercraft tires. Now with the Falkens I can rarely chirp second

Chirp, what's that?
The only time my tires chirp is when I'm doing 45 around a jughandle.

when you shift and your tires lose traction for a second

maximum3rdgen 08-25-2002 09:07 AM

i want a manual ve gosh darnit....my auto vg aint cuttin it no more! lol

As others have said, not peeling out is a good thing. That means you have good traction. You want to peel out easily? Get those 'mileage special' tire, those with high mileage warranty (like 80,000 miles or so). Better yet, get used ones from those tire place that sell used tires. You'll peel out with ease, anytime you want. You'll also corner with a lot of drama, tires squealing like in those 80's detective TV series. Of course in an emergency you wouldn't be able to corner or stop quickly. But those tires will last a long time, and cheap too! You can also sell your evidently still good tires to those used car place too, so it might end up costs you nothing!

Now is this good news or what?

I lurk on here once in a while, to offer a bit of advice, and to see if anyon break something on their car that I can sell them cheap.

He rode in my car, and I don't have crappy tires- I have fairly new potenzas on stock 15" rims. The reason Matt can't lose the traction off the line is that his wheels are heavy, and he has wider tires. I think that an auto vg with its low-end torque should be able to break traction from a stop. :hmmph:
