RPM's while at idle

I have a question for you guys where does your rmp's stay at while in idle. The reason I am asking I just installed new gauges and I though it idled at 1 rpm. Now it is at 1/2 I dont want to touch it until I find out where it is supose to be at.

I believe you mean 1000 rpm. Not 1 rpm.

Your idle should be at 750 rpm +/-50. This should be while the car is in Nuetral. When it's in gear, my idle speed decreases to about 600-650.

You probably need to have the idle adjusted. There is a thing in Chilton manual that shows all the neccessary steps. RPM should be 750 for autos, 700 for manuals, +/- 50rpms.

My wonderful idle is constantly varied between 600 and 0 in neutral or with the clutch in. The little bastard stalls alot when I put it in neutral to coast to a stoplight or am coasting through a parking lot. If I were you, I'd be happy with 500 :D

idle during the day = 700
idle at night with headlights on= 700
idle with A/C on = 800
