Driver's Side Rear Window Problem
Well to make a long story short I had guy come and take a look at my 91 SE that I'm trying to sell (I got a 2k3 SE) and so they took it for a test drive and when they got back they said that some of the windows wouldn't go up. Well I got 3 of the 4 to go up. However, the driver's side rear window won't go up completely. So I took the door panel off and took a look. Everything looked fine but when I touched the motor it was extremely hot. So, I'm guessing that the motor is burnt up since I can't hear anything from the motor.
A few questions: 1) Has anyone replace their's personally? 2) If so, how difficult is it on a scale of 1 to 5? 3) Should the motor and the regulator be replaced or just the motor? Any inside info and tips would be appreciated. |
Re: Driver's Side Rear Window Problem
doesnt take a surgeon to swap out either motor or regulator. call courtesyparts, ask for Kaleb, order motor if regulator cable looks good and in-line, wait for order and when it comes in swap within 30mins and you're good to go. :)

Yeah... what lophix said:
1) Has anyone replace their's personally? yeah, I've replaced mine before 2) If so, how difficult is it on a scale of 1 to 5? with 5 being the most difficult, I'd say it was a 1. Maybe if you're on crack, then it's a 2. It really isn't that hard at all. If you have ANY kind of mechanical experience (in other words, if you can turn a screwdriver), this will be a cakewalk! 3) Should the motor and the regulator be replaced or just the motor? you might only have to change the regulator. I highly doubt you have to change the motor. |
Should I buy something like this off of ebay?
http://search.ebaymotors.com/search/...aytag1=ebayreg I called Courtesy Nissan and the motor alone was $197 and i believe the regulator was $59. Also called around to some salvage yards and the best price i found was $100 for both. Any suggestions? |

removing the door panel is harder than repacing the regulator and motor.
