|Bijan| Jul 12, 2003 09:56 PM

new rotors?

crazy4maxima Jul 13, 2003 12:26 AM

i think the bigger rotors are compensating for something else; you know the same with all or if not most porche owners:wall:

j/k

Looks great. 12in or 13 in rotors?

Maximan190 Jul 13, 2003 12:38 AM

your rims are dirty :o

Matt93SE Jul 13, 2003 12:47 AM

13.3" rotors...

I know they rims are dirty.. they're also bent... they're another set of "beater rims" until I have the balls to buy new ones (i.e. the wife lets me spend money not required to keep the car running!)

GJohnson, I'm in tulsa for about 3 more weeks (woah!!!!) we're moving about the first week of Aug.

mtcookson, the whole setup was $$$, but the rotors themselves were "only" $235. if I were to build everything over again, I would highly recommend just buying the fastbrakes kit and being done with it. it's slowly what I'm going to afrer years of trial and error on buying the wrong parts for the car..

crazy4maxima Jul 13, 2003 12:50 AM

do i hear another gd coming alone:idea:

subs1000w Jul 13, 2003 02:17 AM

does fastbreaks make a kit with 13.3 rotors because the site only lists 12.2 and 1 grand for it is way to much for me to spend right now

shavedmax Jul 13, 2003 07:00 AM

i like :)

Matt93SE Jul 13, 2003 10:00 AM

precision brakes makes one with 13" rotors starting at around $1000, but to get to the 2-piece guys you'll have to spend quite a bit more than that.

As for what I've got invested in mine, it would have been easier to just buy one of the kits from fastbrakes or precision brakes.
As for parts, I've got about $850 in it right now, just for the fronts.
calipers are $130 each, rotors are $135 each, hats are $100 each, pads are $50/set and steel lines are $50 for a pair.
that will just barely get you moving. you then have to make the brackets yourself and other such fun stuff. minimum required to make the brackets is a drill press and plasma cutter/cutting torch. not something most people have just lying around.

what are hats?

Matt93SE Jul 13, 2003 11:50 AM

on a 2-piece rotor, there's the hat that mounts onto the wheel hub, then the rotor itself.

hats on top, rotors on bottom.

And this doesn't even START to consider brake bias, master cylinder sizing, pedal effort or anyhting else.
