Yea I definetly want to drop it, I've just got to save the money. I had to replace 2 ignition coils yesterday and I finally hooked up my upgraded wiring harness for my lights. (Thanks Mike.) I've been spending money left and right, now I need to fix my oil leak (front main seal, I think), my cd player stoped reading cd's on Monday (thank God my boy works at Ultimate Electronics) and now I'm getting a clicking sound when I turn. What is the CV joints???

CV joints are Constant Volocity joints. They help the wheel maintain a constant speed when the outer portion is at various angles in relation to the inner portion. If your wheel is clicking when you turn, then you may need to replace the axle (real easy).

Actually, I didn't know this. Well, isn't there some other joints or boots that can cause this clicking. I've had my bushings changed.

You can either put new boots on or replace the whole axle. The reason why they click is because all of the grease to lubricate the cv joints and bearings has leaked out of the TORN boot. I replaced mine, it wasn't too hard; just time consuming. But you could probably buy a rebuilt axle for cheap(already has boots on with grease inside and everything.

How much will I be looking to spend???

Boot kits for 2 inner & 2 outer will probably be about $20-30 bucks each I think. It took me all weekend because I had never really done it before & I had to go buy snap ring pliers and some other stuff. If you take it to a shop, it will probably run you $300-$400. Don't quote me on this though. I think you can buy a rebuilt axle(each side) for about $90-$110 each; maybe less.

Rebuilt axles from Autozone, Advance Auto, and Pep Boys will cost $75.00 with a $55.00 core charge. The driver's side is real easy. Pull it out, replace tranny oil seal, push new one in until it seats. The passenger side is just as easy with the exception that you have support bearing to unscrew. After you separate the axle from the hub, it probably takes around 5 minutes to remove and reinstall the axles. Heck, it take more time in preparation than it does for the actual job.

I have done a boot one time before. The headache that job gave me convinced me to just purchase the entire axle. Yeah, it may cost about $30.00 more than just replacing the boot; however, the saved heartache is worth it to me. Also, with new axles, you get new outer and inner boots. With the boot replacement route, you could replace the outer boot only to have the inner boot fail several months down the road.

I would've just bought new axles but I didn't know they were that cheap. Besides, I like working on cars.
