A few days after I got my 92 Maxima SE I started having problems with the power locks and the trunk release. Every time I shut my door the doors would lock and my trunk would pop open. Has any one else had this problem? I figure theres a short or crossed wire in the door panel but last time I had the panel off I couldn't find anything. It also will lock randomly (like when it sits over night in my driveway) and the alarm will go off when I try to get in it after it unlocks. Could it have to do with the lock timer at all?


Also, are the doors susposed to lock when the door is slammed, like a safty feature, or is that another electrical gremlin that I need to sort out...

It sounds like your door lock timer located on the right side of your steering wheel under the dash. Check the FAQ's

it's not the door lock timer. sounds more like you have a short (or several) somewhere else. check the wiring harness going through the door and into the car. the door hinge area sounds to be the culprit.
