dang... that looks really good. awesome job!

Nice work dude. What you can do with the metal bar behind the armrest is simply cut it out with a small grinding disc. It's not that important from a reinforcement standpoint.

unsprung 09-07-2003 06:45 PM

So that entire metal bar behind the rear seats is expendable? Always thought that did a bit of what a Rear Strut Tower Brace did.

Nah, just bolts the middle of the seat down to prevent bounce/flex when nobody's sitting there.

I cut mine out, leaving only the bolt sections and covering it with masonite-backed vinyl.

Looks very nice. Good job

Do the Australians have the same Maxima's as us? I recall reading that certain Max's from Australia had the foldable backseat?

johnnyo319 09-08-2003 02:19 PM

Nah, i don't really want to cut the bar away. I like versatility when it comes to my car so in case i sell it, i don't want so many missing parts and anything permanently gone. Also i made the box in 4 pieces (left empty box, sub box, amp rack and base) so that i could take it out if i needed more space for something.

I think you kind of answered your own question there. From what I understand for Edzmax they have a different model Max with folding rear seats.

if you look again...you shouldn't have to cut that metal bar.....if i'm not mistaken, some bolts hold it in place and you can just unscrew them and remove the bar......i know for sure my bar is removed and i didn't cut anything and it can be placed back!!!

So I'm guessing it doesn't do much in terms of stabilizing the car. If it's OK and not hard to take off, that would give me a lot of options in what I can do trunkwise. :D

mtcookson 09-11-2003 12:58 PM

that thing is too flimsy to be able to do any stabilizing. i bent mine just looking at it :goofy:

maxdout92se 09-13-2003 01:25 AM

i'm sorry....i was mistaken, there are 2 bars...i remember removing the the top bar...but tha lower bar is still there....i guess you'll have to cut it off like The_max did, but the other bar, you can screw that one off!!
