Heat doens't get hot on 94 GXE
I have a 94 GXE and I'm having problem with my electronic climate control. When I turn the heat on it doesn't get hot and it blows cold air on the passenger side. What could be wrong?
How is your coolant level? If you are low in coolant (it uses the hot water to provide heat), then you will not have hot air. Another possibility is that you have a trapped air pocket that is preventing the coolant to circulate to the heater core (least likely). Another thing related to this could be your water **** (really, that is what it is called). It is located on top part of the firewall in the center. You will see a couple of hoses running to it. When the heater is selected, the solonoid activates and causes it to accuate (you can see it if you have someone in the car to accuate the heater). If don't see movement, you could have a bad water ****, dirty electrical connections leading to the water ****, or a bad soloniod.
The FSM and Chiltons have good troubleshooting charts for this kind of problem. However, the FSM is more detailed.
A couple of winters ago, my GXE did the same thing. Problem: bad water pump was leaking causing me to loose coolant. After I replaced the water pump (and timing belt), refilled/flushed the coolant, hot air returned.

I had the same problem however what I had to do was get a hose and spray water through the heater core to break up the junk that was in there. I put the water through both the input and output holes and i had hot air right away.
