I can't open the passenger front door!

I have a '91 Maxima. The other day the door just refused to open (as I was dropping off my wife at her office). It still won't open! I tried taking off the door panel to get at the inside, tried the keyless enty-nothing worked. I am convinced some little plastic catch has broken. Does anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks in advance for any help on this matter.

so the doors locked and wont unlock ? if the rod is broken on the inside your going to have to lower the window and get in there with something to unlock it. either a lockout kit or a coat hanger !

one word ===>> crowbar

When you pull on the handle, is there resistance? Or does it just flop around?

There is no resistance, and the door lock moves up and down like it should

The locks go up and down when I lock/unlock the car. I opened up the door panel & found everything intact.

My 92 GXE has had same problem in front passenger door for over 1 year. I, like you removed enough of the door panel to access the rods from the door handle & lock and no matter how hard I pull/push no good. 2 Dealer's have said they need to break door latch to open door and replace with new latch. Estimate $250+. I left car with one dealer for a day & then he told me he had to order parts and wanted deposit! Door latch is down low in door and can't be seen thru cut outs on inside of door. I hope to try myself to repair when my courage is up. If you repair let me know. Good luck
