I noticed that my coolant is low. I've only had the car for 4 months, so I havne't really done anything but get the old changed.

So, today at lunch I'm going to get some coolant. What kinds should I get? Any special kind that max's like best?

Also, I'm getting the old changed today too. Should I go to the dealer, or does it matter?

Thanks,
matt

You may pay more for oil at the dealer than you would by going to Auto Zone. If you know what kind of oil the person used in the car before you bought it, stick with that unless it's something really cheap. Either way, don't go pouring synthetic in the car unless that is what is already in it. Depending on mileage, starting syntheic use will cause the engine to start using oil. If you have a 5-speed tranny, most use either RedLine or Royal Purple, both good synthetic gear oils. As far as coolant, I really don't think it matters. If you just got the car though, go ahead and flush the system and then put in all new coolant fluid and water (50/50). Then when summer comes, add a bottle or two of RedLine's "Water Wetter," it helps keep the engine cooler, but not recommended usaully for winter use for that very reason.
