I climbed under there and found the fill plug (w/ the 1/2" square hole) but I am not sure which is the drain plug. Any help? Also - should I use MT-90 or is MTL fine? And how much? I have my owner's guide but if anyone knows off the top of their head that would be cool.

Redline in gear box
 

I had the same trouble as you. I couldn't find the drain, took her into the local speed shop, at first they told me the gear box was sealed and I couldn't replace it. I told them alot of Maxima guys had, so KEEP looking. I want to say its near the Right front wheel. They used the MTL. I have never been one bit sorry I changed it as my gear box was not as smooth as other Nissan/Toyota/Hondas that I have owned. Now on those -25 below days shes smooth right on start up.

What is the difference between the Redline oil and the oil put in at the factory? I've noticed my shifting is a little clunky - maybe this would be worth a try ??

aside from the mtl being new redline also is synthetic so it'll flow better in extreme temps.

For a tired or notchy tranny. I put some in my T5 in my '85 300ZX Turbo, and after about 500 miles the tranny was like night and day. It used to slightly grind 2nd and be notchy everywhere else, and it was like a new tranny. I have since used it in every car. I use in my lil' road racer Celica as well. Just need to find that darn drain plug...
