Had timing advanced and now car idle's rough
Had my 94 GXE timing advanced to 18 degrees and now the car idle's rough. I made sure to switch to 93 octain gas (used 94 on last fill up) but it is still idleing rough. The car also idle's allot lower now. Used to idle at 1k but now it is just over .5k
Should I just put it back to 15 degrees or is this normal? Thanks |
put it back and see if it returns to "normal"

good point, will do!
Just curious, has anyone else had similar results with advancing the timing? |
It's possible that you didn't do it right if you got one of those advanced timing light gun with a variable setting knob.
Make sure that the knob was set to 18 if that's what you really wanted and make sure it doesn't move while you're setting your timing. Otherwise, if that thing moves, you will not get accurate reading.

your old idle is a bit high... should around 750 rpm after the engine is warmed up.

+1 to fosgate fan.
Plus it might be time for a tuneup for your car. |

Thought advancing the timing was ok as long as you went with higher octain gas?
