Loosing Power

I need some help figuring out what's wrong with my '93 Maxima SE

First off, the car has a tendency to loose great amounts of power (lurches forward and back, rpm's flux when accelerating) and often runs so low rpm-wise that the engine will shut off. It feels like its starving for gas and i've had a couple instances where it would shut off as i'm driving and accelerating and not at a dead stop.

I've had the ECCS Unit replaced, ignition coils replaced (probably not part of the problem, but they were fractured) and i've changed all the spark plugs to NGK's and its still got issues.

Got any ideas what it could be? Cuz i don't wanna waste money throwing parts at it just to see if it will fix it.

Thx

Does the car idle? Could be a vacuum leak if it doesn't. Did you check your ECU for any codes that it might be throwing?

What you do to check the ECU for codes is take hte plastic panel off that is on the passenger side (underneath the glove box, on the left), then rotate the screw all the way left (could be right). Then turn the car to ON and watch for flashing lights. When you're done rotate the screw back and put the panel back on. Can't take more than 5 minutes.

Codes are the best place to start. Most problems will show a code, but not always.

There have been instances of Cam Position Sensors going bad on VE cars. Another possibility is the Mass Air Flow sensor. Neither of those are cheap, though. I would look at all of your other possibilities before throwing your money around.

This sounds kind of obvious, but have you put a new fuel filter in recently? That is a common cause of fuel starvation (clogged filter).

There is actually a long list of possible culprits. If you don't come up with any codes, I recommend just starting at the least expensive and working your way up.

I have replaced the fuel filter and that didn't work, and the shop i took it to put it through diagnosis and it wasn't giving them anything, but i'll try that code check. If there's anything else u've heard of or experienced like this before, let me kno what you've done

Thx a lot

Altho i hope its not that

Thx
