ive seen peoples pics where they have 5 spoke 4th gen rims, and one that had mustang rims. in all honesty i have never removed my tires since i bought the car so i dont know what the bolt pattern even looks like. my question: which rims will easily match up with my 94 GXE? i really like the 5 spoke(4th gen?) rims but am wondering if they match up. thanks for the help and sorry about the dumb question:-)

the bolt pattern for max's is 5x114.3 so any other max rim should line up fine with yours

if they fit i am suprised more people dont put them on. just my personal opinion but i think they look nice. my rims now are corroding around the center cap. does anyone else have this problem? ive seen a few 3rd gens around here that have this prob, so i am looking for cheap relacements and thought those would look good. thanx for the input.

I "had" them on my max, they looked nice, and they bolt on directly...
They are 16 inch rims, in comparison to 15s on our cars, they are also heavier...

There is TONS of rims that will bolt right onto your car, look around Online rim websites, they usually state what fits your car.... go to www.tirerack.com, you'll find lots of stuff...

Re: yes..

will the different size and weight affect performance? i know the bigger size will probably throw the speedo off. will the weight make a big diff in handling, etc? why did you take them off? buy better after markets or didnt like them for some reason?

An increase in unsprung weight will definately slow the car down in acceleration. The speedo MIGHT be off, but you compensate by adding a lower profile tire, so at most you are looking at the posibility of 1-3 miles off. But, with a lower profile tire, you will have increased.

I had the rims with tires which were just a bit too wide 215/60/16, when the correct size should be 215/55/16... I didn't want to spend $$$ on new tires.. I traded them for a set of Chrome 17 inch wheels with tires, they are heavy as hell! The reason I traded was actually because my friend was about to buy a car, or still is.. and he was going to put chrome rims on it and liked the rims I had a chance to trade for, so I did the trade but he didn't get a car yet and I put these chrome rims on my max.. I'm going to sell them to him or someone else and get a set of 16" rims.

You will see a change in performance, my car felt way faster on the stock 15's then on the 5 spoke 4th gen rims,
1st of all, they are heavier so it's harder for the car to turn them, then you are likely to have a bigger overall diameter of the rim+tire unless you put on a thinner (low profile) tire... If they are wider, it will also slow you down a bit.

The bigger the rim, you lower profile tire you have to get for it...... stock 15 SE rims correct size is 205/65/15 ..... 4th gen 5 spokes 215/55/16..... if you get lets say 17 by 8 rims... then you have to get a 235/45/17 tire...
The lower profile the tire, the more harsh the ride will be, I don't reccomend this if you want a nice smooth ride and your town/city has lots of bad roads.

Being in NYC I'm going to look for some 16 X 7 rims, that weigh less then 19 lbs each.. and get some 215/55/16 rubber.
