what kind of plugs make our VE's "happy"
 

I just put some BOSCH platinum 4's in mine. I can't tell if there is a diffrence because i just did a MAJOR tune-up (CAI,fuel filter,oil change,O2 sensor...) so I was wondering what is your guys favorite plug and if you noticed a diffrence.

I say put japanese plugs in japanese cars and german plugs in german cars. Some people have reported problems using Bosch plugs in the VE engine. If you don't want to drop $8/plug for NGK platinums (OEM for the VE), get the NGK V-power coppers for $2 each. Only real difference is the platinums have a lifespan of 60k vs 30k for the coppers.

Which two plugs are you talking about in your question -- Bosch vs NGK, or NGK plats vs NGK coppers? I currently have NGK Iridium IX's in my Max because I got all 6 for $35 shipped. In my old white Max my mechanic put Bosch platinums (just the +1s) in my car without my knowledge (I was just starting to learn how to do car maintenance so I had him do a tune up for me). I replaced them with NGK platinums and some hesitation I was experiencing went away. I didn't notice any increase in power (none that I could tell independent of the car receiving a full tune-up).

I'm not really talking about any plug in particular......i'm just wondering if any of you VE maxima owners put a certain brand/type of plug on your car and said to yourself "wow...I can feel a difference!" nothing big. :hat:

I'd also like to know the best plug for the buck since im gonna do my spring tune up soon.

Autolites (copper) $1.29 a piece. As long as you use a plug with a copper core you're fine. A spark plug is a spark plug unless you have a race engine.

A Nissan tech came on here a while ago (I really wish I could search to find it) and said that the internal resistance between brands is different and that it can mess up a coil-on-plug system like the VE engine. Mods, if you can find the thread that confirms / refutes my claim, please go ahead and do so.

NGK plats. I've read numerous post about the Bosch plats making the Nissan engine run like hell.

5 is the stock heat range
4 is one step hotter
6 is one step colder
