anyone with grounded VTC's help me out...

I cant get the search thing to work to look through the stickies for previous posts....Im curious as to any differences grounding the VTC's may do? such as a little different idle, sounds, etc.?

None for me that I can tell...the engine runs quieter.

It seems like there's got to be some ramifications, else why have engineered them in the first place, but I haven't figured out yet what I've lost with them grounded. I suppose partly because ever since I've been driving my Max, they probably weren't working correctly anyway...

Every time my engine hiccups though and I ask him about it, my mechanic always wonders if it's related to these being grounded.

Not sure if anyone knows, but what does the computer do when it sends the signal to the VTC and there is no response? I've been told that if the Knock Sensor doesn't respond, the computer goes into safe mode. If this same scenario occured with the VTC, then you would think there would be an overall performance hit as the computer is always in safe mode.

I noticed a little rougher idle. Some have had no problems at all.

rougher idle, less noise, maybe less low-end power (i think). i had mine grounded, then put them on a switch, but now they're always un-grounded/normal. i don't hear the ticking as much though, but that maybe related to the Toyota oil filter.

i haven't noticed any change but just incase i wired a switch from the ecu so that i can ground and unground them as desired, i believe i got the instructions on how to do so from mrgone.

Idle not as good as before, less VTC noise.

At first my idle turned to crap. Now there isnt a difference at all between grounded and non grounded. Sometimes you can the little studders in the exhaust with them grounded but its really no biggy.
