Knock Sensor Location - 94 SE DOHC

Knock Sensor Location - 94 SE DOHC
Can anyone tell me the location of the knock sensor for the 94 SE? I have
the Haynes manual, but it's not too helpful.
Also, Haynes refers to red and green leds when discussing how to extract
OBD1 codes. But all I have is a red led.
Turning the adjustment screw clockwise, then counter clockwise gives, I
think, codes similar to the old GM system.
Thus, for the knock sensor, the red led gives long/long/long --
short/short/short/short --> Code 34 --> Knock Sensor.
If anyone can confirm this, I would appreciate it.
Thanks in advance.

You have to take the intake plenum off as the knock sensor on the dohc engine is on the top middle, but underneath the intake plenum

This is correct and wrong. The intake manifold consists of two pieces. Upper(the one you see) and a lower (that attaches to each head). Both have to be removed to access the KS. The fuel injector rails have to be removed to access the bolts on the lower intake maifold. Also, you have to remove the water jacket tube that runs along the length of the block also.
So you have to disconnect the two WP upper bolts, remove the fuel x-over tube, the thermostate housing assy, the heator core coolant tubes, etc...
Take a look at the pictures in here:

Open this link first. then these:
Specifically this one:

And
103_0331
These show how far you have to break the engine down to access the ks and the harness. You can see the KS peeking out from under the coolant tube

Many thanks for your prompt and informative reply.
(It sounds like you really know the Max!)
Since the car only lights the check engine light intermittently (once a week
or so) and since the replacement is well beyond my limited ability, I'm going
to wait until it goes completely out -- and then get a second mortgage so I
can pay the dealer to fix it.
I'd hoped it would be a little easier to get to. Sigh!
Again, thanks.
