92'vlsd,5-sp in my 91 non vlsd 5-sp???

wondering if i should keep this 5-sp.vlsd outta 92 se\ve ?? for my 91 5-sp.? in the (fsm-1992 ed.) vg+ve book) the bolt holes look the same for auto(vg) or 5-sp.(ve) so they are all the same prob? I bet i need the ve 5-sp and,.axles,,spindles,,computer,,linkage?,,clutch pedal + m.clyinder? ......
id prob wait till my tranny in there now crapped out but if i can keep this stuff lyin around maybe someday i could have vlsd..posi trac.?? logic tells me if i like my one wheel burnouts ....two wheels burning is twice as cool? dont get me wrong ...there will be a point when ill have an actual 92-94 se but till then upgrading my "classic se" could be fun

the clutch pedal, master cylinder, and computer should all be the same.
I'm pretty sure afew people here have swapped the trannys with out swapping the pedal, computer or hydraulics

the shift linkage, mounts, slave and master cylinder are the same.
(regarding the transmission)
the only difference between the 89-91 5spd and the 92-94 5spd.
1. obviously the differential. open diff as opposed to a viscous limited slip diff.
2. i'm pretty damn certain that the RS5F50A has a taller 5th gear than the RS5F50V. i still need to check out an 89-91 fsm to compare the gear ratios though.

IN for gear ratio comparison :p

Are you putting your LSD 5-speed into a 5-speed car or an AT car?

If you already have a 5-speed, I think the axles are the only thing that need to be changed. You might want to double check with some other guys that have put an LSD tranny in a VG car, but I think it's pretty straightforward.

im going to try for a 5 spd swap this spring in my 92 se...I got the ve motor...I was wondering if a 5 spd from a vg would work or would i be better getting the 5 spd from a ve, and also....what tranny should i get, non lsd, or one with lsd? Thanks and sorry to jack your thread

If you already have a VE then get a 5spd from a VE. That way you will not have to change your hubs. Also although some have said that some VEs came without VLSD I havent seen one. Get a VLSD if you can.

VG bellhousing != VE bellhousing

am i rite?

pete944/max Dec 1, 2004 12:16 PM

Are all 92+ VE/5 spds. equipped with LSD?

internetautomar Dec 1, 2004 12:34 PM

they are supposed to be.
but for some reason every axle manufacturer asks if it has LSD, but LSD was supposed to be standard :gotme:
