spark plug wires

im in the need of some new spark plug wires..i was wondering what brand you guys recommend for a reasonable price?

kringle03 11-27-2004 08:44 PM

Well if your already going with boch for your replacement plugs, then I'd recommend using boch's plugs as well, they are reliable name brand wires, I use em and I like em

I would have to say get the NGK wire set. They're not that much more expensive than stock replacements at your local parts store. Also, use either NGK or Denso spark plugs. The Bosch 2 3 & 4 have a idle problem in the VG motor.

Can't go wrong with NGK

internetautomar sells em for 65 bucks.

I'd use NGK, easiest way to avoid problems.

I have Bosch sparkplugs could this explain why my car shakes when I'm at a stoplight? How much are NGK or Denso spark plugs?

PulsarDriver 11-28-2004 10:42 AM

Go to Checker/Kragen/Schuck's/whatever it is in your area and just ask for 6 NGK plugs for your car. I paid about 2 bucks a plug (probably less actually, don't quite remember) for regular old copper NGK V-Powers. Haven't installed em yet though :squintdan I still need to order my wires.

Don't bother with platinums.

I did have Bosch 4's in my max, and had a problem of a bad idle with them. I also have a friend who works for checkers, and has said that a lot of people bring them back saying they have the same problem. And wouldn't you know it, every person had a V6. I guess it's a design flaw, because it's just not limited to our V6's.

i use used normal bosh plats. on 5 different vg maxima's and they work perfectly, no hesitation, shaking, detination, misfire or anything. it isnt possible to get a performance gain from a simple plug change. stick with the basic bosh plat or the stock ngk's
-1.99 a plug for the bosh.
-i dont think anyone has ever used the "+4's" in their vg engine and had them work.

how often should you change sparkplugs cause i have had bosch sine sept of 2000 and wondering if they need to be replaced? Would autozone take em back after 4 yrs?

kcidmil 11-28-2004 08:39 PM

Well mine worked great for about the 1st month I had them in there. But after that it started having a slight hesitation. I put on a set of NGK wires and it cleared up for another month, so I guess you could about 2 months out of them, not worth the price though. Easier to stick with NGK. I do plan on trying Denso when I get back. I've used Denso in Nissans before, and had no problems. So I figured I'd try them out on the Max.

Um. No, they probably wouldn't. Autozone is where retards go to die anyway. Why shop there?. The worst auto parts store on the planet.

If you've had those plugs in for 4 years, I'd say its time for a change. That's probably about 40k miles you've had em. *endorses NGK copper plugs and wires*
