anyone who's opened our manual transmission, please step in for 2 quick questions...
 

i got my tranny all together then found out i had one extra little metal ball. i drove it till it messed up, and i got stuck in 2nd gear. does anyone know how many of these small balls there are? also, could someone tell me from left to right, the ball order, with the shift posts facing you (example: spring,ball,post,ball,ball,post,ball,metal separator, ball, spring etc. etc.) thanks very much

Sounds like a detent spring for 2nd gear. I honestly can't believe you opened up the tranny without a factory manual. I highly suggest getting one.
