Window tinting

hey guys

anybody that has window tinting?
did they get it done at a shop, or did you buy a peel-and-stick kit?

what should be a reasonable price for a shop to do it?

oh and how dark is a good tint?
25%?

I'm pretty sure 30% is the legal limit in Texas.

I know 35% is the legal limit in MD and I know a lot of people who have 20% when you go to the tint shop they should have samples so you can pick out the colors and stuff, I think it would have a lot to do with your car color, cause darker tint looks better on white cars :-D

I got my windows tinted at an autoglass shop(all except windshield) for $120. If your looking for style then 25-20% is ideal. If your looking for privacy go for 15% or lower. I have 20% and people are just staring at me through my tints. Pretty crappy if you ask me, but doesn't make the car look bad. It also got worse overtime of me leaving the car out under the scorching sun. It burnt the tinted color away and made them look faded.

I don't know about all the percentages, but I do not reccomend peel and stick tint jobs, unless you are extremely patient and have a lot of skills in getting out all those air bubbles! My boyfriend tinted the windows on an old beretta he had and he was so frustrated when doing that because it was a pain in the *** trying to make it perfect...(maybe he just plain ol sucked at it) But it certainly didnt look easy to me unless you know what your doing!

If you get it done at a shop most tints will come with a lifetime warranty. I had mine done by a guy who came to my house to do it. i have limo tint in the back, not sure what % that was but you cant see through it at all, and 35% on the front two windows. Mine was $150 for everything. but the good shops were gonna charge in 250 range.
I recommend taking it to a good reputable shop if you want it to look nice.

Tinting the Rear window on a beretta is pure hell.I know of a couple local places that just refuse the cars now..Well actually they tell them how much ti will cost and the people back out.The top 3/4 is ok to do but that last bottom 1/4 is bad.

Defianantly get a reputable shop to do it with a good high quality tint. Also ask what kind fo warranty they offer on it (in case it bubbles ina couple months or fades relaly quickly)

I have 20% and I like it. Dark enough so it's hard to see in, and yet you can still see out at night fairly well. I paid around $200 for it, they call it a 5-layer tint, and it has a lifetime warranty.

Tint prices can vary by location as much as $150+. Here in FL you can get 5% all around for a mere $110 with warranty but up by you its going to be almost double if not more.

I have 5% all the way around including a banner and the sunroof on my emerald green max. I would definitly recommend getting the highest quality of tint installed. Also ask different places like stereo shops who does the best installs.
