My bro has a 323Ci 5spd. I have a '90 Max GXE w/mods. I know the 323's are very quick cars, but do I atleast have a fighting chance?? If not then how bad will be kill me?? What other basic mods can I buy to keep up??

Thanks,
Kevin

don't know to much about bmw's but if he has a six cylinder, then you are done. The mildest version of the BMW sixes make ~225 hp. You car might be making 175 with a cai and y-pipe. And if you have an auto, then don't even bother. You will be very badly embarrased

If you want to beat him, you should get at least a VE and mod from there.

will be killed.....I dare not race any BMW's or Mercedes's, especially with an auto VG

DA-MAX Apr 26, 2001 01:23 PM

I doubt it!

he's got a 5spd, newer technology and 184 horses(I think, or that might be the 325ci).....I don't see you coming close because of the auto tranny! sorry....... :)

hmm.. i think he will beat you , but not my much... He actually only has 171hp but its a 5 speed and a bimmer, which makes it low 7's 0-60 i think i read. so most likely he'll have you. i would probably be pretty much even with my moms 01' 325 though cause its 184 hp 172? torque and auto AND convertible, so its like 500 extra lbs. I think i read it gets like upper 8's 0-60 but it definitly feels faster. hmm.. heh maybe one of these days ill get a chance to race it hehe i dunno how thatll work!!

Truth be told, it depends on the skill of the driver. I ran against one and actually kept it at bay because I was rolling. From a dead stop? Yeah, I would have been toast.

You are the weakest link...

goodbye.:D

he'll destroy you. Even VQ's have trouble with them.

thanks for the vote of confidence, lmao!!

Naw, but in all reality you guys are right. The 3 series are very quick cars. My brother says that he has a hard time racing through the gears sometimes, so I guess he's not the greatest driver. I think that car can make up for user error. One thing I do know is that my cars interior in probably better built. My brother is down from NC visiting and he tells me that the rear view mirror falls, there are creeks, and funky noises from the doors, etc. I don't know about you but when I pay $33k for a car it better not make funky noises. He also tells me that they do 14k mile oil changes, I found that to be very odd. I told him that not even synthetic lasts that long!! But he argued that the manual says that and that the engine oil light comes on when its time for an oil change. I really don't know how an engine can tell when it needs an oil change, but I guess the Germans have it like that.

yeop.. the FIRST oil change isnt due until 15k miles. some people do it earleir but then you pay for it. the computer tells you have many miles left to your oil change depending on your driving style. same with my moms car. she has 6k on there now and when she turns on her car it tells her she has like 9k left tell service.. pretty cool huh?
